That's what makes it an intriguing bout! I hope Manny goes for him, because contrary to the general opinion, I see Floyd opening up & then we will see what happens? People may be quick to point to the fact that Cotto & Clottey landed on Pacman & he too the blows, but Floyd is a sharper puncher than both those guys!

Floyds defence is second to none and Pac does leave himself very open during his clusters of punches.
Could PBF take advantage of this??
I would like to find out :bag:

If he keeps up the relentless assault, Floyd will just continue to retreat and try to land the pot shots. Pac will keep him on the retreat all night. If Floyd stands there, I don't think his defence is good enough to deal with Pacmans 10+ punch combinations because Pac moves and changes the angles of the punches of the combination as he's throwing it (absolutely outstanding by the way). So floyd just won't put himself in that position and will run away and try to land potshots. BUT, if Pac is just continually coming forward throwing shots and pressuring floyd like that, he'll win the rounds. Castillo is nowhere near Pac and he did a great job on Floyd in the first and did decent in the second. Floyd is not unbeatable. Pacman has a very very good chance to beat him and I would bet on pacman if the odds were anything over evens.
Firstly the Castillo fight with Mayweather was a whopping 8 years ago mate. Before Mike Tyson even fought Lennox Lewis. Prince Naseem Hamed was still boxing back then.

Firstly, Floyd suffered an injury, in what was his first fight at the weight against the then reigning WBC champion. He won on a tight decision but fair play, he rematched the guy and made him his bitch.

What your underestimating is that Floyd is many many levels above Joshua Clottey and has 2 or 3 inches reach advantage - like a glove on the end of his glove. Clottey had a flattering fight with a slugger like Margarito and then a washed up Cotto. But last night was his turn to be the flatterer.

Floyd in a close but unanimous decision.

floyd is exceptional, we know that, but those punches hurt. Every single one of them hurts if it lands and it's constant for 12 rounds. Pac might take a pot shot but he'll run forward and throw 10+ punches in return and then beckon floyd in. he wants a war whereas Floyd wants anything but. The judges will appreciate this. I wouldn't be confidant in Floyd if Pacman MADE Floyd fight him hard and that is what I don't think will happen because I think floyd would rather lose a close decision than go to war and risk getting hurt. I think Floyd will stick to the gameplan, even if it is making the rounds extremely close and he could very well lose a decision with that attitude.

One thing is certain, Manny Pacquaio is INCREDIBLY difficult to beat.
Im not trying to bate you mate, as I agree he is a warrior and i call myself a big fan of the guy.

But i came across a piece that described how on earth could a guy who got pushed around and beaten at 130lb by a tired, thin looking Morales - suddenly start smashing up Cotto, Hatton & Pacquiao ?

Manny often used to tire but then his conditioning Guru came onto the scene - no not Ariza, this guy was Justin Fortune - a guy who fought Lennox Lewis once.

He was 5'8 but fought at heavyweight... with the help of performance enhancing drugs, under Roach.

Roach also trained James Toney the 2 fights he got caught doping.

The guy turned down a guarantee $40m pay day against Floyd over a teaspoon of blood... one he gave for the hatton fight on the 24/7 show.

But what gave them the jitters? the fact it would be the Olympic scientific lab checking it instead of the state commission?

The same State commission who looked through a list of stuff Shane Mosely was taking and then told the trainer it was all ok, despite it completely not being ?

whats your thoughts.. ?

Pacman is a great fighter for sure. But these clouds of suspicion do linger..
Before his move to Welterweight some were saying he was on the slide. Suddenly he is invigorated and showing increased power and strength at a much heavier weight. Maybe the weight suits him .. I can`t help thinking something more sinister suits him though... :-?

The thing is, the main point raised by Victor Conte of Balco Labs (the company that produced stealth steroids, that the Olympic testers couldn't ever detect until a tip off, which supplied Shane Mosely and got Dwain Chambers banned).

Conte said the boxing commission's testing was such an out of date system, that even the crudest of drugs from back in the day could easily slip through the net, especially when aware of the test dates. Even the old-fashioned dianabol tablets could slip through with just a week's lay-off. He said the modern concoctions left zero evidence and that only the Olympic testing facility had the absolute technology to find them.

The main point he raised, what that this situation had absolutely nothing to do with bodyweight - not one tiny bit.

He said many people were confusing bodybuilding steroids & growth hormone etc... with the true boxing drug of choice called Erythropoietin or 'EPO'.

EPO can be applied in a cream, rubbed onto the skin and was developed as a drug for people with chronic kidney sufferer's anaemia.

Sounds simple, but the effects are dramatically important for fighters as use of EPO can elevate the red blood cell level to such a point, where by a fighter can fight in the 12th round, like he did the very first. Nothing to do with bigger muscles or higher weight.

During the course of a normal fight, the oxygenated blood and enzymes within the blood get burned up by the muscles. But with a 50+% increase in red blood cell levels - a fighter can rattle off 8 punch combo's from the first bell to the last with no problem.

Their main way of preventing it's use is the random method, which puts the fear into potential users and stops them applying it in the first place.

:TU: Thanks for that Gomez. Very interesting indeed .. and rather worrying also :(

It really is time for Olympic style testing.

Personally I think Pacman will win against Floyd, I don't think floyd has the output any more to win the rounds. Pacman could stop him, but floyd is very cute and I think will win a relatively close won to Pacman because he will be able to hang in there.

I just think Mayweather hasn't looked really dominant for quite a while now.

Pacman has improved with Roach, he can box, he can brawl, he can bang, and he throws so many punches. And, he seems to have a good chin too, Cotto hit him with some big shots and never troubled him.

I think Pacman is on a run, and he's getting mayweather at the right time, due to inactivity and complacency.

Not a chance will PBF stop Pac Man. I think Pac wins on UD and I would not be supprised if he even stops him in late rounds.

Floyd will school him with clinical boxing. Pains me to say it cuz Pacman is so talented, a breath of fresh air.

As they say in the NFL..Defense wins championships, and its true across all sports. You can't lose if you dont concede, Look at the great Italian football teams, the Arsenal sides of the 90's etc....

It'll be a one sided cake walk ala the Marquez fight :box:

Mayweather has dodged all of his biggest challengers, so his track record tells us he will do whatever he can to dodge Pacquiao. He will not budge on his demands for Olympic style drug testing, its the one and only escape route he has open to him, and he'll use it. He wont budge. Unfortunately, i doubt Pacquiao will either, therefor, this fight wont happen.

Everyone and their dog seems to be off the opinion that there's too much money at stake for this fight not to happen......... prepare to be dissapointed!

Interestingly (for me anyway) i had to give two blood tests last week. Its the first time i've ever done this. I was expecting to see a threating looking needle, to feel some pain, but on both occassions i felt very close to nothing, only just regestering the softest of pricks on my arm. I was amazed to say the least. I'm sure Pacquiao is not affraid of the prick involved, but the talk of feeling phsycologically weakened afterwards is a strange one. I really would like to see this fight go ahead without Mayweather getting his way, his demands are just wrong and to me he's just desperate for a way out, but if meeting these demands is the only way Pacquiao can get him in the ring then i wish Pacquiao would just bite the bullet and take the damn tests, then smash the prick up inside the ring and be done with him for good.

While Castillo in the first fight may have demonstrated a gameplan to beat Mayweather, the fact is the DLH (in the first half of the fight) and Hatton (at least in spirit) could not apply the intelligent pressure required. Mayweather for all his negativity is a smart fighter, he is not going to fight like Clottey, and is it out of the realms of possibility that he may actually be able to take Pacman out of HIS gameplan by effective counterpunching?

Lets say Pacman gets caught by a counter left hook in the the first or second, a flash KD, he's up at 4, takes the eight count, does he charge right back in with the same moves...? either he does and that happens again, which is disastrous from a scoring POV or he changes up, which may or may not enable him to win rounds...

I REALLY want Pac to win if the fight ever happens, but win or lose PBF is too good a fighter to be shown up by Pacman, the same applies in reverse. This will be close, and on points.

not at all out of the realms of possibility, IMO.

Mayweather is a trap-setter and if Pac falls into a couple of traps early it could get right into his head, bad memories of the JMm fight and so on......

Mayweather is a class act. I believe he would nullify Pacman and most likely stop him late on.

Pacman looked good again on Saturday, but Maywetaher is in another league to Clottey altogether. Maywetaher`\ problem has been that in certain fights he has done only what he needed to win. He will raise his game to the level of his oppenent and I believe he can go that little bit higher than Pacman.

It seems to me that all of Roache's mouthing off is going to eventually back fire and no doubt it will come in Pac's 'finest' hour.
Mayweather can defend much better than Clottey and will expose Pac's openess - it's going to build up to a massive fight and righfully so but Mayweather will make it look easy again and then boxing will seem dull again in the process. When Floyd retires for good, people will eventually give him his dues.

Pacman has had his hardest fights against the boxers - and not guys who take it to him.

I`d favour Mayweather to outbox him ... wouldn`t be too sure though :-?

I think Mayweather sees big problems playing matador to Pacquiao, the doping accusations were clearly a sign of that.

Styles make fights. Conventionally speaking, Mayweather's is the perfect antidote to Pacquiao's. Paquiao is not a conventional fighter, he's a phenom.

It's a shame Floyd has finished taking his roids and has caused all this bother over Pac man. I think most of these fighters who move through the weights so often are on the gear or have been at some point.

mayweather never fought clottey or cotto margarito or mosely up to now. im hoping mosely beats him so we never have to hear anything more about him.obviously hes super talented, but the fact that he has avoided so many top fighters over the years, while maintaining hes the best, is just sickening.
like most of the athletes of recent times ,most of the top boxers have probably been involved with dubious gear i one way or another and i would be surprised if mayweather was an exception....
the drugs issue is a red herring anyway. the point is that mayweather has avoided too many fights, when pacman seems to just get stuck in.pacman embarrases mayweather in that he puts it on the line, shows a true fighters spirit, and seems to have a genuine love of fighting.
if all fighters were like mayweather nobody would actually fight

Mayweather to win widely on points for me.

People think Pac's workrate would trouble him but Mayweather wont let him have a workrate he will always be on the move throwing and getting away, sure Pacquiao has very good foot speed but I feel Mayweathers feet are faster. He will be able to throw and move not letting Pac get set. Pac's last few opponants' have stood infront of him and let him throw his combo's and use his workrate and speed, Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey all stood infront of him making him look good, he hasnt really fought a lot of movers. I see Mayweather taking a wide UD decision
