Michael Brodie's showdown with Injin Chi for the vacant WBC featherweight later this month is the first WBC title fight in this country since Brodie lost a close one to Willie Jorrin for the vacant WBC super-bantamweight title over three years ago.
It sums up the quality of the 'world' title fights staged over here.

well it seems fighters would rather win the wbu and wbo belts and fight nobody for the rest of their career than win a real title and get the big fights
Nelson and calzaghe fit into this category and many more will follow,
I truly think if calzaghe never won the WBO belt he would be WBC, IBF WBA super middle weight champion and have his big fights now,

I lay the blame firmly at the promoters door tbh.

And lets not forget, Brodie vs Chi is only for the interim title.
However, whilst Bennie is correct - there were two WBC title fights in the UK within months of each other in 2000. With Brodie vs Jorrin and Schwer vs Johnston (that was a great occasion).

Is this not going to be up-graded to a real title fight Stu? Morales went on record last week as saying he'd never make feather again.
Shame if not as it's about time Brodie had some luck going his way.

Yes i heard that Chi-Brodie was going to be upgraded as Morales has made it clear he will not return to Feather.
