Matthew Hatton

Is anyone else on here giving Matthew Hatton a big chance against Gianluca Branco this Friday??

I think it will be a mighty close fight as to me to Branco is certainly not the same fighter he was - this was magnified by a recent fight against Janos Petrovics - who Branco got a points victory against. Yet Petrovics was demolished by Sinclair and Cox in fights in the last 2/3 years. In addition Branco was in a big struggle against Colin Lynes - one in which he eventually got a split decision.

Another thing I think is in Hatton's favour is that Branco has only fought once in a year and 3 months!!!

Any odds on this fight?

I think mathew will beat him, mathew is finally hitting his prime and should become european champion. He should give craig watson the first shot at that european title if he wins it

I think M.Hatton will win, Ricky isn't stupid. He wouldn't have made the fight otherwise. Suppose he did get it wrong with Watson.
Might be going of track abit here, but Warren is pretty much renowned for matching his fighters perfectly, he has got a few wrong but not many. How is Hatton's matchmaking so far? I think he has done excellent getting M.Hatton a euro fight, and a very winnable one.

there no better chance for matthew to win a european title imo a well past it branco, matts improved alot the past couple of years when he was with lee beard, he should be at his peak at 29 i think he will win this one how long he can keep hold of the title is another thing.

I think Matthew has made a lot of improvements over the last 18 months and could win.

Branco is past it and was never anything special. Hatton has a very good chance at winning it. After he wins he will probably talk about getting revenge on Pacquiao and Mayweather.

I still have doubts Branco will show. Hatton should be too strong for Branco at this stage.

I think Matthew wins easily on point. Branco is fading and Italians are poor travellers

think hatton might win with branco retiring late on in the fight, and then possibly getting a world title shot

I agree.

I just don't like the guy. His post fight interview after his draw with N'Dou didn't help.

i hope he gets beat I have him down as an "avoider" and a big pork pie teller.

he loves linking himself with names......Judah...Nuumbembe.....Brook..(i.e. massively better fighters) if he doesn't fancy it he just says he can beat them anyway cos they're not as good, or he gets on the fone to rent-a-Ukranian.

Really don't like him hope he gets beat.

Watson schooled his ass, to which Hatton came back with....I had a bad night that night I was off form I'm actually a better fighter than Watson and I'd beat Watson in a rematch.

Francis Jones did him back in 03 with a broken hand, according to both Mccrory and Darke, by 2 rounds over 6, but it was given a draw. Jones couldn't get a rematch for love nor fcking money.

When did Jones get a rematch??????? He lost his first ever pro fight over 6 bruising rounds on points to Ali Nuumbembe and the next day there was an email......Do you want to fight Matthew Hatton on Friday?? Jones went, believing he'd "punch a hole in Hatton".....however was exhausted after a round or 2. It took Hatton 6 to get the job done on his physically weakened opponent from the week before, when Jones was pulled out (correctly) by his corner, whilst pleading for one more round ......After which Hatton claimed he was "better class of fighter than Jones".

Francis subsequently gave what Jim Watt described as the "best losing effort in a British title fight he'd seen in a long long time, that was unlikely to be bettered any time soon....." losing RSF12 to Kevin Anderson ....(Anderson has not won since).......whereas the "classier" Monsieur Hatton has done, oh wait............absolutely Jack Sh*t on the British Scene.

Come on old man Branco

A branco points win is 5.0 on betfair and a hatton points win is 1.9,i've had a 20 nicker on each as a fancy branco's chances in this one.

I think branco is still a good operator... for the first 6-7 rounds!! hatton will start looking the more active fighter in the 2nd half and come away with a MD/SD win

overall, wont be an impressive fight whatever the outcome!!!

Italians dont generally like getting roughed up and Matthews strategy i'm sure will be to outwork and unsettle Branco. Best odds are:-

Branco complains to ref between 1-3 times 3/1
Branco complains to ref between 4-5 times 2/1
Branco complains to ref between 6-9 times 6/4

if I had one go to bet my house who was fighting a 39 year old for a vacant title.........this would be that guess. Come on Branco!

I couldnt believe how short Hatton was for this fight when I saw the odds this morning. Branco may be old but he's mixed in much better company than Hatton who isnt a great fighter by any means.

Is the winner of this fight supposed to be against the Ukrainian fella? Coz there are some big domestic match ups for the European if Hatton wins e.g Hatton v Jennings and Hatton v Brook.

of course the problem there tho is an obvious one. It would involve getting in the ring with them... :shame:
