As I watched last nights boxing on SKY, I couldn't help but notice that somne slight negativity fronm the commentators (particulally Adam Smith) toward Anthony Small.

Every time Webb landed a punch, Smith would start going crazy. When Small was doing well he'd keep quiet. You can also sense in his commenatry that he dislikes Small, but his job is to commentate, not to judge a fighter on his personality.

I also think they were over exagerating Matthew Hattons fight. Sure he did well to win the vacant belt but that guy was 40 and his timing and reflexes were as bad as ive seen since Bradley Price. And we always have to go through the Hattons damn family tree every time one of them fights. The cameras spend more time looking at his MUM than the fight itself.

Anyhow, its not the first time ive noticed the SKY team acting biased.

Small is not loved by SKY.
I had him winning by 2 but was not surprised at the outcome.

Not particulally, do you? :)

The Sky commentary is awful, I hate it.

Rather than just focus on the action, they seem determined to offer constant opinions about who is going to win, random comments about how amazing a particular boxer is etc.

They DO pick a fighter and "fall in love with him."

I much prefere a traditional commentor- focuses on the in ring action, and builds excitment. AND NOTICE they are not afraid of odd bits of silence.

In my opnion, it's not the commentators job to constantly speculate on who is winning- leave that to the judges. For such, they can say who is dominant, who is throwing the better shots etc- the sort of thing a fan at home will notice. But Sky's team seem to try and do too much.

I might start a petition to Sky FNF's, more Ricky's mum, less boxing

Also, in a one-on-one sport like boxing, I think it's better if the commentators don't pick a favourite- as they were doing with Hatton.

I actually love listening back to Jim Watt's commentary on the Moore Rhodes fight.
He's always been negative towards Rhodes throughout his career.
I agree commentators should keep their personal opinions to themselves.

Yep, thats true. These commentators pick guys out they dont like and rip into them forever. Carl Froch, Small etc.

I think its disrespectful of them to pick on guys such as Small and Froch who work so hard. How many titles did Adam Smith win? How many damn FIGHTS did he win?

I think it's more that the internet is a good place to complain, so it tends to look inbalanced.

I don't tend to start threads saying "This thing here is working just fine- keep it up!"

if you'd paid more attention to what Webb was doing rather than the commentators you might still be champ!

To be honest I think the commentary against small is the right thing because that fight against Mc Donagh stank and then he went in the interview saying it was a decent fight and then Adam Smith had to put him back into his place.

Anthony Small is a bell end of the highest order, when you act like he does you have to perform, he didnt.

I rarely watch Friday fight night and for the big American shows i'll wait till the next morning and download the American version, because of the Sky commentary. It's simply awful.

Agree- they should focus on the action, and not the "Hatton Clan."

I don't want to see his mothers fat face. Lets not forget her racism that was quickly covered up by Ray Hatton in the 24/7 series for Floyd vs Hatton.

Boxing commentary's are hit and miss. Sometimes Watt is spot on, other times he's wide of the mark, however, IMO Webb won the fight fair and square despite any bias there might have been in the commentary.
