David Haye won by TKO in the 9th round. Ruiz was knocked down twice in the first round (once by a rabbit punch) and in later rounds but survived to the ninth when the referee stopped the fight. Ruiz was on his feet at the end.

It's funny that guys like Ruiz can get a world title shot. I would love to see what David Tua would do again to Ruiz moreover to David Haye..... when they eventually meet (hint hint) :OhYes:

Ruiz is a favorite son in the USA. How the WBA can rank him as No 1 contender is beyond me.

but we haven't seen tua fight anyone of note. Cameron doesn't count on the world stage and ahununya has made more money as a sparring partner around the las Vegas gyms than he has as a boxer.

haye would beat tua on points, fairly wide margin too

true.... there is a legitimate reason as to why Tua hasn't done so. He basically "carried" Friday comfortably for 12 rounds and took the ring time. Reason why he hasn't fought anyone of note: have a browse on this story

It would be a good fight, Haye was getting tired in the middle and late rounds though, and against Tua id say he would get stopped. Tua has genuine one punch power. And he would walk through Hayes best punches.
Thats just my opinion but id love to see the fight.
After watching this morning, I think Both Klitshko's would beat Haye. Unless he can change his gameplan and get past there jabs and straight rights.

Tua fought Ruiz years ago. Tua won by first round KO. Did the same to Michael Moorer and also beat Hasim Rahman and KOed Oleg Maskaev. That's four world champions.

He also went the distance with Lennox Lewis, Chris Byrd and the unbeaten Ike Ibeauchi. Nor has Tua ever been knocked out.

What were you saying him fighting about nobody of note? :-?

Unfortunately Tua will not be Haye's next opponent, and will not be for the foreseeable future. Word on the street is that he had to put in a rematch clause in the contract against the Don King promoted Vaulev. There is no way on earth that Don King will let that go !!!

Haye will try and get one of the Klit bros, failing that talk is of a All British HW showdown with Audley Harrison should he win the Europoen title on Friday evening, or failing that the Valuev rematch, or failing that B-Hop wants a pop at a HW title aswell and has indicated that Haye would be the man he would face.

Tua does'nt stand a chance at the WBA, his best option is to try and get one of the Klit Bros interested, and he could be viewed as too dangerous for them to consider a defense against. He need an eleminator with the big 4 to stand a chance of mixing it with the big boys.

I once spared an Islander who had a disputed close loss to Felix Savon at the world championships. He was a south paw and over 20 kg's heavier, this guy punched the Shit out of me, with one punch he broke my nose and cheekbone :o
