sky didn't even bother to interview him!

It's a shame that he is so "low profile"- he has won every one of his fights, at what point are people going to be "noticing" him.

BBC just dismissed him as "From Nigeria." This is a guy who won the British title, no?

Yeah, sky seemed to focus on the fact that Lynes lost, rather than that Olusegun won (if that makes sense?)

yeah i noticed that they interviewed lynes and not olusegun thought it was bit strange, would he be eligible to fight for the european title

He should be now.... he surely has a British passport now given that he won the title, unless the reason why he vacated was based on some issues only found out after by the BBBoC which means he is illegable. Its odd he isn't mentioned as a mandatory at all.

I wasnt overly impressed with him. He obvisioly has natural ability but has some very bad habits, his hands were to low (if he is going to keep his right hand down at least put your shoulder up). His body work was good and he varied nicely to the head but he is still some way off world level

Hes got no respect cus he's boring

Firstly they talked to Lynes because there was an obvious problem with why the fight had to be stopped, and secondly Olusegun doesnt get noticed because he has no fanbase and he's not that great to watch. He's a decent enough boxer but the guy has absolutley zero popularity.

Jim Watt said in commentary the only way he will fight for a world title is by becoming a mandatory and that fight would have to be away from home coz he's got no promoter.

there's no way he'll get a shot at khan or devon alexander. ian darke put it best when he put it that if you showed the video of olusegun v lynes to an american TV executive, they wouldn't jump to showcase olusegun.

he seems fit and strong but his style of looping and swinging won't take him above domestic level. olusegun simply does not have an attractive enough style to get better than big fight undercards or FFN main events.

I know that there is the "popularity" aspect, and interviews are part of hyping future fights etc- but even so- this IS meant to be a sports channel, surely interviewing the winner of a title fight is relevant?

Also, one leads to the other- had they interviewed him, that would have added to his popularity a bit- people like to "get to know" a fighter etc.

Focusing on a fighter because he is popular (and igoring talented by less popular fighters) is coming close to WWE mentality.

For sure, it's been happening in boxing for years, Hatton, Bruno etc.

I mean- if Sky's policy was to say "Well, it wasn't a good fight, lets just move quickly on" then their show would often be finishing early!

i see your point. but olusegun has been looking rubbish ever since the gary reid fight.

i bet john murray would have chopped down gary reid inside 5 rounds. that's what a like about murray (and jamie moore). no-nonsense fighter. whereas olusegun, well there is some nonsense. the bolo punching, the winding up on shots, the trying to look cool stuff. i think jim watt put it best: (something like) "just the quality boxing, thanks."

olusegun seems to be faffing about a lot, in there. i don't really rate his performances very highly vs nigel wright and colin lynes. i keep thinking he drew with wright (1st fight), even though he didn't it turns out.

Decent but boring fighter. Euro level at best I reckon, unless he's been holding a lot back in the fights I've seen him in. Which I doubt.

Olusegun is effective at what he does. He won the fight easily against Lynes. Whether or not he is exciting, we can't deny he is effective.

I think it's a fair point, The guy does deserve a little more respect!!! I understand he has no fan base BUT just admire the guys skills cos to me they demand respect on there own...

but he dont show the skills often enough in his fights, he can box one round beautifully and then he looks like a complete novice. i just dont think the guy has much going for him.

I agree- also, with a bit of media coverage, he can build a fan base.

Not even interviewing him doesn't help that.

The focus (of that brief summary- all BBC online could offer) being on Lynes "failure to make it a British double" is a bit one sided. Lets not forget that both Adamu and Olusegan were the defending champions.

He would beat daws! He should fight mccloskey for euro.

He needs to be more active and exciting I'd say. He hardly set the world alight against Lynes did he?
