Scottish bias and I feel kind of sorry for him as David has pulled out twice at the last minute in eliminaters so maybe he should be upgraded to challenge

Groves has the power of a beast. I believe he could take Smith out in a matter of minutes.

I cant see that happening because i doubt the promoters will want to make a huge risk putting their fighters in such a big tourney this early in their careers.

And i would much rather want Smigga to fight Magee next than Groves. All that is certain is the Supermiddle Weight division in Britain is booming right now, and will produce some fantastic fights in the future.

To answer the question in the thread title:

Brian Magee

Why?? - he has earned his shot at the title - I think he will lose - but nonetheless he has earned his shot.

If not groves then it must be DeGale.

none of them have earned a shot at the british just yet , groves has the bigger shout but in my opinion he should wait another few fights yet , by that point smith will have vacated in his attempt to move up to world level and groves could fight for the vacant title vs someone on the level of quigley .

next up for smith should be magee but that should be the last of his domestic fights for the time being , and should fight a couple of higher level europeans before a world title eliminator , im not saying i believe smith can win a world title as im undecided at the mo on that , depends who he fights really , im sure allegedly will manouver him in the right way to do it though , just a case of wether hes got the skills to do the business at that level , a jesse brinkley fight would generate a bit of interest , both being former members of the contender series , on different seasons mind.

In this order: Magee, Miranda, Groves.

why should smith fight george groves? hes had 9 pro fights and you think he should get a shot at the british title? fans are so fickle, they contradict themselves sometimes. i mean people say swifty isnt ready to face lindsay yet but then they say paul should fight george groves? paul is the british champion and if groves wants to fight him, he'd better prove himself worthy against some better oposition first... so hayemaker promotions better stop trying to steal frank warrens authority on the british boxing scene by fast tracking his fighters to beat franks fighters.

Paul Smith has worked hard to get where he is and hes not gonna pause his progression just because some ginger thinks he can knock him out. by the time groves gets a british title shot, smigga should be breaking into world level.


George Groves should not even be mentioned, as with every other fighter in this list bar Magee, magee is the only fight there that will take smigga forward!!!

i would like to see smigga in with miranda, andrade or tsypko after magee.

it's a great division but it would be Magee for the European now. I cant see him fighting DeGale because of the Warren connection and I cant see him wanting to fight Groves really.

Smith v Magee would be an awesome fight. Jamie Moore if he decides to carry on would be a great addition to the division.

Surely Magee has to be the only option for Smith.

Groves halting Adamu was indeed an impressive coup but for Smith to neglect the possibility of becoming European champion and also securing a top WBC rating in exchange for fighting Groves is sheer lunacy.

Lets put Groves in with a Dilks, Dodson or Quigley before taking on Smith.
