Considering the BBC has only entered back into boxing around 2 and half years ago, they seem to have built up a stable of exiting boxer's and will only go strength to stength so I thought i'd put them to the test with Sky.

I've based my winner's for each weight on Public awareness of respective boxer's, titles's won and talent

I think overall Sky has the more world class boxers, there some guys that you missed out and some I'm not sure are still contracted with the BBC (i.e. Robin Reid).

Heavyweights - overall a BBC win, but Sky have shown the champion's last three fights (Lennox Lewis)

Cruiser - I go for a Sky win, Johnny is a world champion, Enzo is the young fighter of the year.

Light Heavy - BBC win. Clinton is the only fighter in this devision I have any interest in to be honest.

Super Middle - Sky win = Calzaghe, Magee (and now Robin Reid).

Middle = Draw - Howard Eastman is the only fighter in this devision who is world class, but with Elcock, Lockett, Groenwald etc Sky has the depth of the devision.

Light Middle - Easy Sky Win. Walker and Eastman are Southern Area class. Alexander, Williams, Takaloo, Roberts are European class.

Welter - Again an Easy sky win.

Light Welter - Again an easy sky win.

Lightweight. Not sure of the contract status of Jason Cook, there a few fighters there you haven't mention (who I don't know their contract status - i.e. David Burke). If Jason is with the BBC then I go for a BBC win.

SuperFeather - Sky win.

Feather - Sky win.

Super Bantam - Sky Win - Lets not forget Michael Hunter, Wayne McCoullough.

Bantam - Draw - Noel Wilders vs Nicky Booth is a hard fight to call.

Flyweight - BBC win.

8 - 4 - 2 to Sky.

Good thread. Without going through them step by step I agree with most Stu's picks and say Sky are still the stronger, however depending on the BC maintaining their interest in the sport they could well be closing the gap.

The BBC have Robin Reid on their Oct 24th Bill so he's a BBC fighter now!
Light Middle - Easy Sky Win. Walker and Eastman are Southern Area class. Alexander, Williams, Takaloo, Roberts are European class.
Well, I agree with you on this one in terms of talent but i was also judging on PUBLIC AWARENESS and on that David Walker is a Household name and the Sky fighters are virtually unknown, so I still say a draw!
Middle = Draw - Howard Eastman is the only fighter in this devision who is world class, but with Elcock, Lockett, Groenwald etc Sky has the depth of the devision.
This is easy BBC win I'm afraid, Eastman is head and shoulder's above any British fighter at moment. So what if sky has more depth, they are all very average fighters like Elcock and lockett!

Fair comments there Nasty, although I was judging it on talent alone, concerning the Lightmiddles. If your looking at public awareness then for obvious reasons the BBC win alot more, but on talent alone (which is how I judge it) Sky win.

I wasn't aware of Robin fighting on the BBC bill, I actually thought he'd signed with Matchroom who work exclusively with Sky.

However, in my opinion Sky still have the Number 1 and Number 2 in the devision (with Starie retired). So they still edge it. But again if your looking at exposure then of course the Beeb close the gap (more people have heard of Froch than Brian Magee I'm afraid.

Again, you make valid comments about Eastman, but what I'm saying is I'm not interested in Eastman's recent opponents. Whilst I'm not saying Lockett, Groenwald, Elcock (at this moment for the later) are any match for Howard, still be more competitive than Eastman vs Dann or Bendall.

Also, if your going side with the company who holds the world class guy over the company who holds 3 or 4 solid domestic fighters, then Sky should win the Heavyweights (Lewis) and also the Supermiddles (Calzaghe).

How the fornicate can the Light-middle division be a draw? David Walker is shit and so is Gilbert Eastman. Sky win that easy.

SKY will be concerned about their prospects graduating into potential world champions. Scott Harrison's lost to Manuel Medina must have been a huge shock to their system. Joe Calzaghe may only hang around for 2 more years. Lennox Lewis (who Sky usually televise) will have retired, as will Johnny Nelson (if anyone cares?!?) which leaves only Ricky Hatton as SKY's box office fighter.

There doesn't strike me as an abundance of top quality prospects that are coming through on SKY. With the exception of Kevin Mitchell, the other prospects look destined to slug it out domestically or, at best, minor world championship level.

By the same token I'm sure the BBC will be concerned by David Haye's alarming struggle against Lolenga Mock. But in Clinton Woods and Howard Eastman they do have two genuine world level competitors. Whether they can win a version of a world title is debatable though. The BBC will also be hoping that Audley Harrison, Carl Froch and Roman Greenberg turn out to be the real deal.
