dont get me wrong, they are all great, but I'd love to see who people think as weak among the strongs...
Barry McGuigan
Victor Galindez
Pipino Cuevas

Cuevas & Galindez were definitely better than Johansson.

In a couple of years Gatti will be the top answer.
Galindez was a long reigning champion in one of the finer eras for Light Heavyweights.

Carnera (I think) is a HOFer, & while I think he is actually quite under-rated (in the context of him getting essentially zero respect from so many), he was certainly mediocre, for the most part. He & Johansson could join McGuigan, who is infamously everyones' choice as an unofficial cut-off point for the Hall.
I'm sure there are worse, but Galindez & Cuevas? No way, IMO.

Heh, you are probably not wrong on Gatti.

Barry McGuigan
Terry Norris
Daniel Zaragoza
I would rate Ingo above those three personally.
Carnera is not in the IBHOF

Jess Willard and Ingemar Johansson are easy choices for the first two. Have to think hard about number 3. McGuigan had lot's of potential but didn't live up to it.

I was thinking of Willard, excuse me --- not Carnera. My post, with Willard's name in place of Carnera's, still stands.
Norris & Zaragoza were better than Johansson. None are true HOF calibre, IMO.

by The Great John L
Palomino
McGuigan
Norris
Although Ken Norton could also be in this list.

Regarding Johansson, I think it depends on the criteria for induction: Is it a Hall of All-Time Greats? If so, then Johansson has a weak resume. Is it a Hall of Fame? If yes, then Johansson is a lock as the first and only Swedish world heavyweight champion.

All linear heavyweight champions were famous. Even Carnera and Johansson, just having
"The" title made you a famous and an important person back in the day. Therefore IMO they should all get in, at least through Larry Holmes, then you can start to pick and choose lol.

obviously somebody doesn't know anything about boxing by picking victor galindez and pipino cuevas. cuevas' overall record might not have been the best but while he was welterweight champion, he was one of the most feared punchers in his era. victor galindez was also a great lt. heavyweight who was tough as nails and fought the best. nice try!

my picks would be:
flash elorde - most overrated super featherweight champion. look at his record and he fought absolutely nobodies before his title reign, during and after his title reigns. this guy has got to be the most overrated HOFer along with brian mitchell and ken norton.

Anyone who watched a Galindez fight, would be amazed his name has come up here.

Yeah, Galindez is deserving of his place in the hall, though replacing him with Flash Elorde is probably worse.

Yep, b/c Sandy Saddler, Harold Gomes and Ismael Laguna are a bunch of 'nobodies' . . .

dempsey,
i'm not saying flash elorde wasn't a good fighter but he was a very weak HOFer. look at all those early losses to a bunch of nobodies on his record. most of those losses were against obscure filipino and japanese fighters. and the ONLY named fighters he fought were against Carlos Ortiz, in which elorde got KO'd twice, ismael laguna, in which elorde beat. he also fought sandy saddler twice. the first time he beat saddler by decision when saddler was way past his prime at 141-14-2 and the second time around, saddler at 142-15-2 knocked out elorde. and who the hell is harold gomes? looking at his record, he wasn't anything special. the cat was from rhode island, (a real hotbed for boxers ;;-) .
i'm not saying flash elorde didn't deserve to be inducted into the hall of fame but he has always been vastly overrated and seems to be one of the weakest inductees.

You seem to know nothing about him. He wasn't knocked out by saddler it was stopped on cuts after Sandy put on one of the dirtiest displays of fouling you would ever want to see. The ref should have been brought up on criminal charges.
Guys like Campo & Berrios were solid fighters. Maybe when you look at records form these guys you should research who these "nobodies" are.
Early losses wasn't uncommon for inexperienced teenagers back in the day. the 'nobodies" were tougher than a lot of contenders and "champions" are today.

saad,
again, i'm not saying flash elorde does not belong in the IBHOF. but i am adamant that he was an overrated fighter who ruled over a very weak "new" division. look up and down his overall record and you will see for yourself. i guess you can see he was a great fighter because he is in the HOF but he certainly isn't the legendary fighter he's made out to be. and yes, he IS one of the IBHOF's weakest inductees whether you agree or not!

You forgot to mention Pancho Villa. I thought you just hated pacquiao, evidently there is an entire bias against Filipinos.
I don't agree and you're not right. I'm aware of his record and the fighters he faced, obviously you're not.
At least you didn't repeat the slander of the knockout defeat to Sandy saddler. That was quite comical.
If you're not saying he doesn't belong, why did you bring him up? Just to crap on someone from the Philippines? Any particular reason? Or do you think that every fighter in the HOF belongs there?

saad,
lol...you must be filipino huh? why are you crying just because i think elorde is vastly overrated? as far as pancho villa is concerned, don't know too much about him just that he died at a very young age. i've seen old clips of him and think he was a great fighter. what more do you want me to say? that he was the greatest flyweight of all-time? will that make you happy? sorry charlie, i believe the greatest flyweight of all time was jimmy wilde. sure a young pancho villa beat him but by that time wilde was a "spent" fighter nearing retirement age. i will however say that i think pancho villa ranked up there with the likes of pascual perez, miguel canto and jimmy wilde as far as greatness is concerned.
all-time flyweights
1. Jimmy Wilde
2. Miguel Canto
3. Pancho Villa
4. Pascual Perez

Nope, I'm white as can be. Just fairly obvious that you're carrying an agenda. Either that or you're just ignorant. Either way, you don't offer much of substance here.
If he belongs in the HOF, he isn't an answer to the question posed in the thread. Is that simple enough for you?
As for your Flyweight rankings, if you don't know much about him, how can you rank him?
You don't know much about Flash Elorde either and yet you have a firm opinion that cannot be questioned. You obviously have never seen Elorde/Saddler yet you saw fit to bring that up. Why don't you go to Youtube and watch that fight for starters?
