Harrison v Sprott

Predictions anybody... Thanks!
No, he wasn't. Remember around that time, virtually every domestic heavyweight fight was being trumpeted by a certain promoter as having a world title shot for the winner. None of them were official eliminators, and none of the winners did get a title shot. (I know Skelton did, but not as a direct result of any of those domestic wins)funso banjo baby wrote:dont care as long as both are prepared to fight.
its funny to think that when Audley had Sprott down in the first round previously , he was probably one fight away from a world title fight !
Wow, I had totally forgotten Skelton fought Chagaev. But a quick look at his record and ti looks like his career is over and heading south.oliverfennell wrote:No, he wasn't. Whatever anybody thinks about Audley there is nothing tarnished about his Olympic Gold. Winning the Olympics is an outstanding achievement and is something that Ali, De La Hoya, Leonard and Foreman all rate at the very top of their achievements.skelp wrote:Hopefully, the same as last time.
Then we can wave goodbye to that fraud with the tarnished gold medal.

Gold medals at the Olympic Games are a heck of an achievement, there's no doubting that. Unfortunately Audley's pro career has significantly devalued his gold medal win of 2000. Unless he can perform a miraculous turnaround (i.e. engage Sprott and destroy him, take on Haye and war it out and stop him then blitz the Klitschkos into oblivion) I can't see him fulfill what was indeed a promising career back in early 2001.Matt W wrote:Whatever anybody thinks about Audley there is nothing tarnished about his Olympic Gold. Yeah maybe. The fact that the talk of him getting a world shot if he beats Sprott THIS time shows you could be right!funso banjo baby wrote:oliverfennell wrote:No, he wasn't. Audley had the PR skills...a first round Ko of sprott on the back of the three round Williams stoppage would have got him close to a title fight...definately
I hope he doesn't do, what he did against Skelton. He could have beat Skelton if he tried.Harrison late KO or points sadly. Sprott didn't seem that up for it in the press conference.
I agree with you to an extent,Audley mastered the computer system. But i dont think Degale thinks that way.Im sure he was advised on the best point scoring techniques, but he beat a decent Cuban in the final, and looks like he has a fighting mentality.Time will tell...forcefraser wrote:I don`t think his gold medal is tarnnished in any way.
Amateur boxing, especially in recent years is a totally different game to pro boxing. It more like fencing than fighting. Audley knew how to work the amateur points system and fair play to him. Degale did much the same thing in Beijing.
Pro ranks is a different ball game, where scoring of individual points is not the main aim. In the pro ranks you try to win rounds, not points and this makes for a totally different kind of fight. Audley aint got the heart to get stuck in when he needs to. He is not a trench warrior, that`s for sure.
Agreed. I don't know what on earth was going through Sprott's mind that night.Exoddus wrote:I hope he doesn't do, what he did against Skelton. He could have beat Skelton if he tried.Harrison late KO or points sadly. Sprott didn't seem that up for it in the press conference.
Skelton got a fight with Oleg Maskaev off his win over Danny Williams, but Skelton & co opted out of the fight. Silly silly men.oliverfennell wrote:No, he wasn't.
