Are you pro/anti any boxers because of some Boxrec posters?

Are any of you in this boat?

Do you root for or against any fighters simply because other posters and their attitude gets on your nerves?

I'm thinking of recent threads on Audley/Sprott, Barker/Lee, Gonzalez/Ancliff...

Come on - name and shame!

Gomez and his diatribe regarding Andre Dirrell and his win vs Abraham - and this is the man who wrote he was on here to 'educate' us

Mind you - I was pro-Khan anyway - a British fighter winning an olympic medal - it wasn't a long ago team GB were lucky to win a broze between the lot of them. :geek:

I don't think I am anti anyone based on anyone here specifically. I was cheering on Paul Smith more than usual since we had a little chat though, but not because there was some pro Dodson posters. Had nothing against Dodson, just seemed to me that Smith is a well rounded guy.

But I don't think - oh so and so loves him, I don't like so and so so I will root for the other guy.

I always seem to root for the slick boxer over the brawler recently because of all the negativity shown by posters(mainly those who inhabit the current scene) towards the slick boxers for doing what they are supposed to do which is "hit and not get hit" but I can't say I dislike/like a certain boxer due to other posters

Have been anti Barker recently due to some (two) posters (ye know who ye are) comparing how great he is to Andy Lee and constantly slagging off Lee's ability just to wind me and others up.

Apart from that, other posters don't generally influence my opinion of a boxer.

I'll calm down after a night on the black stuff tonight.

But it doesn't take much to get the Irish fans backs up on here - dare say an Irish boxer is overrated or is British (even if said boxer has won a British title or a commonwealth title) you then get the Irish boxing police in - or should I say Irish boxing garda with their helmets, trunccheons and riot sheilds to fight to the death. :TU:

I have become Anti-Barker because of the disrespect that about 4 guys on here have had for Lee and Duddy whilst blowing smoke up Barkers arse.

Maybe its because an Irish fighter has to hack a British guys legs and arms off before he gets any respect on here, SKY or Boxing News! :OhYes:

You are another one who gets on my nerves with that sort of talk. Obviously I am going to stick up for an Irish boxer if someone is talking absolute rubbish about him.

As I just said in another thread, that whopper who is constantly banging on about Andy Lee has made me dislike him and I previously had nothing against the guy.

I do find myself coming across as pro-Calzaghe and Hatton at times. But I can honestly say I was never a big fan of either guy - its just I do acknowledge their obvious tallents, and fall into the trap of trying to argue their case with people that are almost insanely anti-Calzaghe or Hatton for some reason :witzend:

I am though - very much anti-Khan :TU:
Nothing to do with any other poster - Khan does a good enough job himself :D

Yes definitely.

Used to have a big problem with Paul Smith - nowt wrong with Paul - as people have already stated he is a well rounded bloke and I am sure my invitation to a ringside seat to his next fight is in the post - all he has to do is PM me to let me know the details!!! :TU:

In all seriousness - I have my views concerning Smith and his "class" whether that be domestic, european or world - however it is a simple FACT that some of his over enthusiastic fans slating me initially a few months back because I dared to say he wouldnt go beyond domestic class - shall we say created some lively debate - this in turned fuelled my desire to shall we say have some banter back - some of that banter was out of order as I will state again there is nothing wrong with Smith.

I can remember some bloody brilliant debates on this and other forums - which again I am sure posters took sides due to what posters stated rather than their true beliefs concerning the boxers concerned.

Alexander/Farnell - f*ck me some of the banter there was pure class!!!

Haye/Hobson

Calzaghe - there were people who seemed to be in love with him!!!

Carl Froch and his defence

Tony Dodson - he used to get hot under the collar :TU:

Who can forget the Hatton/Witter debates - f*ck me they used to rumble on and on :TU:

But for me the very top of the tree and he will be for sometime is going to be Amir Khan!!! - I truly cannot stand the bloke and I want to see him lose!! - I will leave it there!!! :TU:

Massive fail - its called having an opinion! And someone is allowed to say an Irish boxer isn't all that on a boxing forum! I don't think anyone is trying to say Andy Lee is crap is because he is Irish but you get the Irish fans on here trying to politicize other peoples opinions with an 'anti-Irish' bias and underlying racism when there isn't any.

The posts arguing that Brian Magee not being a British fighter really got on my nerves also - I know there will be two sides of an argument but the man held the national title of Great Britian. :TU:

And who can forget the 'John Duddy is not British' campaign, with the argument that those dastardly Brits are always trying to claim succesful Irish athletes. (I can't make this fuckers eyes roll any wider!)

Jamie Moore held the Irish title - does that make him Irish? Shiite argument Carlos. You need a read of the Good Friday Argeement hombre! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_Ag ... rnal_links

If Jamie Moore considers himself Irish then thats good enough for me! :TU: I don't know if you know that part of Lancashire but many people of Irish parentage and ancestry around there consider themselves Irish! He won the Irish national title to no great financial benefit to himself so I think its obvious where the answer lies in regards his 'Irishness'.

Also - people will state the obvious and say he won the British and Commonwealth titles and he is British - nothing wrong with that - lots of people (inclusing myself) have dual cultural identity

As for the good friday agreement - you still need to be a British passport holder to fight for the British title - that has not changed as far as I know. :TU:

So anyone holding a British title is holding a - yep thats right!

A. Moore doesnt consider himself primarily Irish, and Magee does consider himself Irish. It wouldnt matter a fuuck to me if he didnt but he does and it takes very little to respect that! Like I respect fighters from the north that consider themselves British - end of!

B. Check my location! I might know a little about the Irish community where Moore is from - ya think?

C. Salford aint in Lancashire!

D. So what if he holds an British passport - that doesnt preclude him from holding and Irish passport as well. But anyway I think you are mixing up citizenship with nationality - no shock there.

Blinder of a post ya failure!

Simply put - if a fighter who fought and won the British title goes abroad to win the European title then fans are allowed to say 'its a great night for British boxing' without a load of politically bent Irish fans getting their knickers in a twist about it - are you saying citizenship has no bearing on the a persons culture? We go back to the good friday agreement - Magee doesn't have to hold a UK passport but he obviously does so the rantings of some of the small minded on here that Magee would give anyone a clout if they were to state he was British to his face cannot be true! :TU:

Salford is historically Lancashire - always has been and was for over 600 years until 1974 - if you are trying to place credence on Salford being in the artificial county of 'Greater Manchester' then there will be many who disagree with you, post a letter to an address in 'Salford Lancashire' and yes - it will get there.

Is that your way of saying you were wrong! Very good I would leave it there - unless you want me to rip a whole in your latest dollop of mixed up bs.
