WBO super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe is set to defend against Armenia's Mger Mkrtchyan on December 6 in Cardiff.
I'm speechless.

Joe said he will not fight Vanderpol as he is not in his class and then he fights Mkrtchyan.

This really is unbelievable. How on Earth is Warren going to sell this one? Have you looked up his record, other than beating Barr, he has fought no-one I have heard of.

I assume it's a mandatory defence, this guy, who's name I can't pronounce is WBO no1.
Even so, it's still a load of shite.

of course Mger Mkrtchyan will come cheap
why do you think bewer, mithell fought ottke in germany when they were the champion because ottke people offered them great money, warren doesnt like to give away any money at all.

Currently on his website he is selling "Hatton vs TBA" tickets.
Unfortunately, Warren has manouvered himself and his fighters into a situation where he can sell fights, no matter how bad the opponent is. This is really ban news for the fans who want to see competitive matches.
I'm past caring about Calzaghe. On Saturday, we have a proper fight for a proper titile. I'm thankful about that.

Quite right Priff.
This guy TBA must be in good shape though, he's fought Hatton, Clazaghe and countless others on Warrens shows. Sometimes two or three times a night.
They say fighters dont fight as much as they used to but TBA fights more often than SRR did.
I would say that TBA is Warrens best man

I'm well used to poor challengers by now, but what I can never tolerate is the BS that come out of Warrens mouth. You can bet your life when Adam Smith starts poking him about this one Frank's response will be "Look this was the WBO no.1 contender, Joe got him out of the way. Next year we'll be looking towards bigger and better things.."
The one word that Sports Network just don't seem to understand - MOMENTUM.

Warren knows this is a shit match. He's now talking of moving Joe up to light-heavy afterwards (see SecondsOut.com), which is his way of trying to divert attention away from the December farce. But guess who he's targetting at light-heavy? The winner of Roy Jones-Antonio tarver? Dariusz Michalczewski?
No, the 37-year-old Italian spoiler, Silvio Branco.

Unbelievable.
What a waste of a talent.
Sky-Warren-Calzaghe, screw the lot of you.

Branco would be the best we can hope for I guess...can't see Warren doing business with the WBA though.
If this farce comes off, I really hope the Welsh make sure it happens in an empty venue, just to show warren he can't keep dishing out mismatches.
Joe must be gutted, after the big Mitchell fight it's back to bum of the month - maybe it'll convince him to dump warren and move on.
The Americans and Showtime will throw their hands up in disbelief if this comes off..

I wish there was a way of hurting Warren and his contemptable approach to matchmaking. He just takes the piss with his 'world' title fights, and yet Sky-TV pay through the nose to screen them. The buck stops with Sky in my opinion. They screen Oakey-Barney one week (20 years ago that would have been a Southern Area title fight), and Brodie-Chi the next (promoted by Barry Hearn of course). They're not stupid. They know the difference in quality. So they need to get tough and demand bigger and better fights from Warren.
Arthur-Gomez is a good fight of course, but what really makes it is the fact there's no bullshit title at stake. It's the joke titles that are killing boxing, and Warren's WBU titles are a major part of the disease. Neil Sinclair against Jimmy Vincent in December is also a good fight promoted by Sports Network, but billing it for the vacant WBU welterweight title hurts it. Everyone knows that WBU are WBO titles are easier to win than European titles, so Warren bypasses the European title for these so-called 'world' titles and we have to watch two fighters who aren't even the best in Europe fighting for a 'world' title. It's insulting. Sky-TV should refuse to mention these titles when screening them, and just describe them as 12-rounders. That would be a start.

Calzaghe has to take some of the blame.
He beleives his own horseshit, so does Warren and so do SKY.
fornicate the lot of them
After the Barney-Oakey shit, Sky Boxing and Sports Network should be shut down, Warren should have his licence revoked and Frank Maloney should have an injunction against him to stop him talking more horseshit.
I have, today, cancelled my sky subscription and will never buy another ticket for a Warren show again.
Barry Hearn is putting on a real fight on Saturday and Robert Waterman is putting on another real fight two weeks later, Clinton Woods vs Glencoffe Johnson.
fornicate Warren, fornicate Clazaghe and fornicate SKY.
How many years does Clazaghe need to prove himself.
Its all Bollocks.
They are all cheap.

your right bennie
hell even the wbu (warren belt union) is more easier to win than a british title,
of course they will hype calzaghe next fight as a tune up to hopkins, thats aload of BS. as calzaghe will never face hopkins,

This has been by long held view too. The way I look at it is I pay Sky £40 + a month so my grumble is with them. They should sort out Sports Netweak.
If I go to a restaurant and the steak is crap I don't blame the butcher, the restaurant should give me a good service and take it up with the butcher.

THE WBO BELT DOES MORE BAD THEN GOOD. DEFFO TO A FIGHTER LIKE CALZAGHE. WITHOUT IT HE COULD HAVE SHOT UP THE WBA, WBC, IBF RANKINGS
