Wasnt there a film being commissioned on Mickey Wards life, Im sure Mark Whallberg and Brad Pitt were involved (could be wrong) - it was without doubt supposedly going to be a big un - any news or updates?

darren aronofsky was going to direct it. the guy who did Pi, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and THE FOUNTAIN. but he did THE WRESTLER, with mickey rourke, instead.

Looking forward to seeing this, I was always a big Ward fan. Dickie Ecklund actually conned Micky into signing a document giving Ecklund the rights to making the movie about Wards career. Ward would have ended up earning feck all money from a film on his life, thankfully the document was made null and void in court.

should be good,although i think its a little strange that the story does not cover the trilogy with gatti,thats when micky truly arrived and made decent money

Id like to see the Kassim Ouma film too.

The film ends with the Shay Neary fight although with a bit of Hollywood license as the fight takes place in America, not England.

The rough cut of the film was very well recieved and the finished film will come out in America late 2010 in time for the Oscars as its expected to be a real contender for 2011 nominations especially Christian Bale playing Dicky Eklund and the Director David O Russel who has previously made 'Three Kings'.

According to Dickie Ecklund, alot of that documentary was staged, he even admitted to taking extra cash to make a 'good show'.

Anyone know what happened to the Tom Cruise Robert Duran film?

It's a shame Pitt and Damon couldn't make The Fighter. Much better casting.

To an extent thats true of all doc's...there are times when the crew may miss an incident and ask the participants to re-enact it again for the camera's, also this is done for lighting and sound reasons too.

Having said that there are Doc's like Hoop Dreams that i'd say were pretty much 'Real' from start to finish.

I understand what you mean abouting reinacting scenes but the impression I got off Ecklund from reading the book was that he was paid to set up scenes that weren't a true reflection of what went on in Lowell's crackhouses.

I love that documentary, Hoop Dreams, and agree it looks 'real' the whole way true.

cruise even managed to black vest through the philip k dick mindbender MINORITY REPORT. given that really cruise just plays cruise - given that he's a star - i wouldn't like to see him play duran. i'd prefer a no-name to play duran. then again, i can't reallyt be arsed to watch a duran film, if i'm being honest.

2 fighters spring straight to mind when I think about a film.. Aaron Pryor and Johnny Tapia, I don't think many could match there lives..Maybe Tyson BUT I just feel like Tysons whole career was a movie being played anyway.. He's been persecuted by the media since he was 19 years of age so I feel there's not much we don't know?? The likes of Tapia and Pryor are crazy stories as I've read books on them and there just frightening they really are..
