Sauerland: “We will fly Froch in and knock him out - the Volcano won´t save him”

Herning (16.04.2010) – Kalle Sauerland has confirmed that the Super Six World Boxing Classic Clash between WBC Super-Middleweight Champion Carl Froch and Danish hero Mikkel Kessler (April 24) will go ahead as planned despite multiple airspace closures throughout Europe. The “Cobra” was scheduled to fly from Great Britain to Denmark tomorrow, but with most of the European airports shut down until further notice, he might be forced to make different arrangements. “We will make sure the Cobra gets to Herning in good time to fight Mikkel,” Kessler´s promoter Kalle Sauerland said. “The Volcano cannot serve as an excuse for Froch not to show up. Nothing can prevent the biggest boxing fight in Danish history from happening. We are already looking into different ways of transportation. Should need be, we will fly Froch in by helicopter for Mikkel to knock him out. He can then take the boat back home – once Mikkel is done with him, I doubt he will be allowed on a normal plane anyway.”

The fight will air on SHOWTIME at 9 p.m. ET/PT as a one-fight card (same-day delay). In Denmark, the fight will be distributed pay-per-view on the satellite-, cable- and IP TV-platform by the following operators: Satellite and IP-TV operator Viasat, cable TV- operators YouSee and Stofa, and IP TV operator TDC. Tickets (priced 499 DKR) can be ordered by phone (70 11 20 60). The starting time for the fight will be around 22.30 Danish time. What a stupid statement, a natural disaster happend that can cost lives and this guy talks about private helicopters when planes are not allow to fly, what a plumb.......

Why is that stupid? Life goes on. The volcano wasn't Denmark, nowhere near. Might as well say the Hattons should have cancelled last night's show, or that everyone who is clambering to get on Eurostar because their flights were cancelled shouldn't bother either.

I don't believe anyone died in the volcano either, it's all about wind patterns and the fact that the dust has been blown over Europe.

Would you feel better if they called the fight off and Froch wasted all his training and all the people going, many of whom will have already booked a week earlier and in Copenhagen, will have done their money again?

It would have held more water if Kessler wasn't bashed up by Ward in his last fight.

Kalle Sauerland's comments after the Abraham v Dirrell debacle and now this don't show him up in a very good light do they. Seems he's a bit of a knob!
