Note that Peter Manfredo Jnr. and Angel Hernandez have a date on May 22 to dispute the vacant IBO middleweight title.
Whose toes did Anthony step on?

He dropped the title instead of rematching Geale. He has a history of doing that sort of thing.

Its not about stepping on toes but actually about getting Mundine to step into the ring.

or not stepping in the ring.
So let's get this straight. He now has no titles? No major fights on the horizon (Green is still too far away)? No set weight division to make any noise in. He is now 34, about to turn 35.
Reads like a washed up fighter imo.

If he wants to continue he would be better off going back up to super middleweight. Roy Jones Senior advised him badly about dropping back to middleweight and that super welterweight business was ridiculous.

Did she really?
Surprised I hadn't heard of that. Not surprised he did that though.
Maybe Choc should go for the WBC Female Featherweight Title next, I hear that's vacant and it makes sense for him.

I can smell an interim or vacant title mysteriously falling from the sky any minute now

That can't be the sound of the gauchos and other denizens of the Pampas, Chacos and Patagonian grasslands falling over one another in their rush and nervous haste to fight our man: Mundine?

His father lost his only World title fight to an Argentinian. Carlos Monzon was the best middleweight I ever saw fight. Martinez is also Argentinian.

And so the answer seems to be found
This from Fight-news
"The WBA has called two purse bids for next Thursday (April 29) at noon at the Wynn Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The first is a clash between WBA #1 middleweight Anthony Mundine and WBA #2 Gennady Golovkin for the 160lb title (Felix Sturm has been elevated to super champion). Minimum bid is $200,000 with a 50/50 purse split. The second match is a defense by WBA flyweight champion Daiki Kameda against Takefumi Sakata. Minimum bid is $80,000 with a 75/25 purse split favoring the champion. The bidding will be overssen by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza and Jose Oliver Gomez."
Well Golovkin will give Mundine what he needs i think, a real workout. His last 10 or so fights have not been against the scrubs that Mundine has been hand picking on lately. Can't wait to see the outcome of the purse bid. fornicate i hope he has to go over there to fight. Ottke all over again. Perhaps he will be out for a week this time.

mmm -I like Golovkin.
Olympic silver medallist (beat Andre Dirrell in the semi final)
2003 world amateur champion - including a 4th round KO of Lucian Bute!

you are allowed to dream.
Even is he wins it, he would only be the regular champ. Sturm will be super champ. It wouldn't stop Mundine saying he is the greatest though. :P

I didn't think so but wasn't confident enough to post that.
