I have had some interesting chats with Tommy of late, and one of the things he is trying to get hold of is a copy of his fight with Don Weller, in March 1959, this was an amateur fight, but was shown on the BBC, if anyone can help please contact me.
Tommy's record appears as "Boxer of the week" on my site.

Hi, I'm looking for information on my dad's fights and would love to see him in action, did you manage to get hold of the footage you were asking about on here or do you know where I could get hold of it myself?
Kind Regards

Very very few of the boxing recordings made by the BBC or ITA (now ITV) during the period 1953 to 1983 have survived. Only the most important ones. Both organisations purged their stock in the late 1980s. Hence many editions of Doctor Who, TOTP, Monty Python, Dad's Army have been lost forever. No chance whatsoever that Tommys fight will have survived even if they were recorded in the first place, which is unlikely (probably just transmitted live and not recorded at all). I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I know a lot about this. If you don't believe me then look into the story behind the two episodes of Morecambe and Wise that were shown yesterday on the BBC. Only surviving copies found in disused cinema in Sierra Leone. I have a lot of other material on Tommy. If you are interested then please PM me.
