He beat Yoshinora Nishizawa by 6th rd TKO. Ref Brad Griffiths stopped it after two knockdowns. He won the WBO Asia Pacific and WBF (Foundation) "World" title. The WBF (Foundation at least) will let a fighter fight for another organisations regional at the same time. The splitting of the WBF has hit the Australian based organisation really hard. The two that headed the split were the ones responsible for getting Croucher fights overseas in South Africa and Europe

WBF would let its "World" champ fight for State title at the same time.

It's not even the equivelent of a commonwealth title, wait a minute it's not even a WBO Asia Pacific belt.

The WBF will never be a world title :shame:

And i'm sure Joel Casey would tell you he isn't a world champ, good on him for winning a title but world it is not.

Joel will now have a break from fighting and we'll be doing some hard training in the gym over the next couple of months. These titles he's earned will hopefully lead to some bigger fights in the second half of the year and he has the hunger and determination to make a statement against a quality opponent.

Stay tuned......bigger things to come.

No disrespect intended to Joel, I too am sure he would be pleased for the belts and a good win over tough old war horse Nishizawa is nothing to sneeze at, good luck to Joel.

well done joel , dont worry about the w.b.f if they want to strip it off you they will , so that they get paid for sectioning fees else where , but keep defending that w.b.o and your in the top 10 soon and then you get some good money and maybe even a shot.

true true junkyard , he will be able to get some more sponsors , and at the end of the day in 20yrs he can show his grand kids a belt with WORLD CHAMP on it .... PLUS if he climbs the wbo raitings and the champ chooses joel there manager can highlight that joel casey is a world champion to the press in whatever country the champs from .

Is this the 10-7-3 Joel Casey we're talking about?

Yep, good luck to him, he does seem to improve as he comes along.
Reading between your lines though, WBF baby.

My appoligies to joel if he thinks this is offensive, i certainly don't think it's offensive.

Reality is it ain't a world title, if Joel wants to tell people who don't know the difference he's a world champ, good on him, but this is very reason why (people who don't know) can't follow the sport, because fake world titles are given to blokes with 9-7 records.

Good on Joel again for winning a Belt, i sincerely hope everything go's well, but if someone comes on here claiming him a world champ, i will voice the truth.

His tough as nails, no question about it.

I hope they give him a couple of quick fights maybe 3 in 2 months to pretty up the record, and maybe revisit a couple of the opponents that served him up the first time.

That would be good to see, you also mentioned the Commonwealth title earlier, would be good to see a Commonwealth title fight.

Have the WBF stooped to a new level....how can 2 people hold the exact same title, not interim, not vacant and not super champion....the exact same title.
