Proper sour grapes. He was well beaten, I thought. He was on the back foot because Kessler kept him there.I had Kessler by 4 rounds in an epic fight, but he led the dance. As simple as that. Also, i thought Froch was on bandy legs on more than one occasion, which he doesnt acknowledge. Nothing worse than a saw loser. He reminds me of Hopkins in this regards.

Is this not Froch altogheter though. The man comes across as having no class. Thought it was great his after fight interview when he said it was a home town decsision and the interviewer said but you had the same in your last fight at your home town.
Im surprised he not blaming JC as he normally brings his name into every interview he does.
He was on radio 5 last week saying Kessler is famous for losing to someone called Joe somebody from Wales. So does that make Froch famous for losing to the man who lost to Joe somebody from Wales

All the tabloids are running with the "I was robbed" headline. After supporting Froch for the last month,i have changed again! He won the fights against Dirrell and Kessler? He is in danger of losing a lot of respect from even the hardcore boxing fans.He lost, clearly, even the bent judge only had it one point differnt to most of the respected Boxing journalists in the WORLD.One loss and he's taken his ball home.

I thought Kessler fought the smarter fight and took the play away from Froch after a nervy start. Froch is usually the "guvnor" in there but Kessler managed to impose his own style. It would be nice if Froch admitted that a few adjustments are needed. He is very capable of reversing the result by replacing some of his casual swagger with a sense of urgency. Froch is still my favourite fighter but I would like him to use this as a wake-up call.

Lost the plot hasn`t he..
He gives a different excuse in every sentence ... and where does he get he had Kessler hurt in the 5th

... Froch was the only one hurt in that fight ... maybe the 8th rnd affected him more than he realizes
He is only making himself look a very bad loser. Take a leaf out of Kesslers book after he had lost to Calzaghe ... the only ones who were making an excuse about the loss then were Froch and his people again

Normally I'll always support the British fighter without reserve but Carl Froch is the exception to this rule and this is largely because of his Joe Calzaghe obsession and also the casual disdain he sometimes displays towards other sportsmen. It's a shame too because otherwise, I think he's a tremendous talent and a massive asset to the British boxing industry.
Anyway Froch's reaction to Saturdays loss (although not the height of sportsmanship) is understandable. Having his unbeaten run terminated by a man that Joe Calzaghe bested over two and a half years ago (both were close fights it must be said) must have cut his professional pride to the bone and maybe the moment was just to raw for Froch to maintain a philosophical front.

He's doing what he needs to do in order to go about his business next time out. He also operates in a sport in which you can get sparked clean out and still convince yourself, and others, that you were somehow unfortunate to lose and are the moral victor.

I really want to like Froch (was british world champ, banger, good chin, likes a war) but everything he says tends to annoy me.
Even on fight camp 360 when complaining of his range rover getting vandalised by a Calzaghe fan. Id put have put it down to having FROCH on his number plate so every scally knows who he is.
He needs to remember that the only reason he had that belt and super 6 is taking place is that Joe somebody gave them up and i dont think Joe would have trouble with anyone in super 6 apart from maybe Dirrell.

I am a fan of Froch but the way he has conducted himself after the fight is most disappointing. I felt he lost the Dirrell fight and I felt he lost this one too. He needs to just shut up and get on with it. He said himself beforehand that he felt he would have to knock Kessler out, and he failed to do that. He has to expect that the close rounds will go to the home fighter and this was by no means a robbery. Dirrell was far more a victim of a home town decision than Froch was.

The funny thing is I personally believe that on a given night, Carl Froch has the physical gifts and the style to beat JC, so it's not his ability that I doubt.
The problem is that Froch has been so vocal and frequent in his criticism of Joe Calzaghe that the overriding message seems to be, if you like or support Joe Calzaghe then you're a fool. As someone who does tend to back most British fighters, it's hard not to take it a bit personally.

good points. I normally support/defend Khan but his attitude leaves the kind of taste I don't like in my mouth. its the smallmindedness, and lack of dignity that bothers me, where none of these clowns (and indeed sometimes their internet armies) seem to be able to say something good about themselves without at the same time running some else down.

Froch would be absolute dynamite if he was American.
I've got no complaints with Kessler being the winner (I scored the bout 114-114 so had no argument whoever got the decision.)
Froch is perhaps the most hard done by sporting personality in British sport and it's mannerisms that have cost him mainstream exposure in my eyes.
He's lost for the first time and maybe he's just taking defeat a little more sourly then what some may have thought. He congratulated Kessler excessively on Saturday so I just think some of the comments made in the press can be taken with a pinch of salt.
How Froch is not everyone's favourite British fighter is totally beyond me.

Agree and Disagree there Terry.
Well agree with everything you say - but the 2nd fight was a clear Gatti win he didn't "nearly blow himself up" - victory was never in doubt.
The 3rd fight was going the same way, untill the injury gave Ward a fighting chance.
I agree that Gatti should never have lost any of the fights and he knew - even in defeat - he was the better man. Although I do somewhat disagree they were glorified "club fights" there was lots on the line. Both were in the top ten and Gatti went on to win a world title. Had Ward won the trilogy I am sure he would have had the shot.
They were not eliminators, but they were (in away) eliminators for a voluntary shot cause of the money / appeal they generated.

froch will do what he has to do to make himself feel better. fighters have to be strong willed and single minded. in an era in which the top fighters behave like children or have the personality of michael moorer after locking himself away in a basement for days, fighters do say things that piss ppl off. especially with the internet, which basically makes everyone a target (unless, for some reason, you are paul williams - probably because he is "avoided," "underrated" etc paul williams seems invulnerable to forum criticism).

I think Froch is taking advantage of the fact that virtually nobody who reads those tabloids could or ever will see the fight. And if you listened to Radio 5 his mates Buncey and Woodhall were getting paid by our licence fee to mislead the listener and convince them it was a draw, 6 rds to 6 according to Buncey '2 rds were very close but I gave them to Froch. He didn't win them, but he's the champion'. Enough said.
Froch got beaten up for being a wild swinging strong man with no defence, tough guy, deserves credit for his very stiff opposition compared to Amir Khan's path of least resistance, but he should just show class and admit Kessler well beat him.
Probably too hard after his years of Calzaghe-baiting, though. Ouch.

Steve said those words on the Radio 5 call post fight, I had it playing whilst watching the stream live.
All night they painted a picture that didn't resemble anything I was watching, making a big deal out of ANYTHING Froch landed or near landed, claiming the replay showed Froch did knock down Kessler as I watched the replay showing both punches missing, the three of them, Woodhall, Buncey and the main guy, some talentless shouty guy who sounded like he'd been dragged out of the pub, were all dreadful.
And yes, Steve Bunce said 'I gave those rounds to Froch, he didn't win them, but he's the champ'.
LAUGHABLE!

I watched the US broadcast to see how they had it, interesting to see that out of the 3 ringside scores they flashed up, the dane and brit contingent scored it for their home fighters respectively but the neutral card scored it to Froch. One of the commentators (Bernstein, i think) also gave it to Froch by a round.
Froch, as expected, gave another classic post fight interview. Saying he didn't want to make excuses before reeling off a list of factors... but still thought he did enough to win.

God love him. He's as stubborn and hardheaded on the mic as he is in the ring.
I really thought Kessler would mug Froch, make him look one-dimensional, clobbering him with perfect rights that would ultimately undo Froch's amazing punch resistance. He impressed me bigtime, it was his fight up until Kessler changed it up and Froch didn't react until it was too late to turn it around.
Let's not get it wrong, it was a razor thin decision if you aren't biased one way or another.
Here's something I never thought I'd be saying. I'm picking Froch to outbox and ultimately batter Abraham, home or away. I was
that impressed with Froch.

Mike Costello. as a radio journalist making the odd comment he's ok, but as a commentator.....
Bunce has been trotting out that 'champion' line since the Dirrell fight.
anyone reckon he'd be mentioning it if the champ didn't happen to be British?

Good post.
All this 'im losing respect for Froch' is a joke.... i was a fan, i am a fan, im gonna be a fan, im not a fan but... !
Bottom line is this, there was threads and threads on that totally bias judge Tilleman being involved in this fight. Hennessy, McCracken - they were all well aware of him and he was under scrutiny.
It's interesting that even Showtime gave it Froch by a round.... yet the judge on the payroll scored it 117-111.
Froch can handle the defeat, it's the scoring that's angered him and now they're talking of not honouring their word on Abraham fight being in UK.
Typical Germans if you ask me. And i'd not have any confidence in a points win on a German-based Saulerland card either.
