Big Mac vs. Kotlobay(Spoilers)

Enzo Maccarinelli takes a role of the dice tonight and puts his career on the line as he challenges for the European title against once-beaten
Alexander Kotlobay in Kotlobya's back yard of St.Petersburg Russia. Pictures of the weigh in and a video are up on fightnews. Kotlobay looks the smaller of the two(a bit pudgy) - in fact to me he looks as if he could make lightheavy with some dedication. Maccarinelli is his toughest opponent to date - I think Macc can do it! Maccarinelli gets a fair amount of stick on here but I for one am routing for him. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke and if he can get his confidence back I feel he can still figure in the crusierweight title picture.

Thoughts?

I am a big Macc-hater but for some reason I want him to win. Feck knows why, though.

He's not putting his career on the line.

If he wins, then great keep rolling rolling rolling.

If he loses, then he can look forward to a lucrative career as an "impressive record" opponent. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets more European title shots against "hometown boys."

If his chin can take it, that is?

Not sure about that mate, he's come close to retirement before following the Lebedev defeat. A bad defeat here could see him finally call it a day. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would be happy being "an opponent" for the remainder of his career. He's too ambitious for that.

Yeah, if he doesn't wish to take the "opponent" role, then fair play.

But I'd say as long as he gives a reasonable performance, there will be more opportunities for him , should he choose to take them.

Kotlobay looks a bit out of shape, but going by his record it seems he can punch a little bit. I think that is enough to beat Enzo at this stage. I'm hoping Enzo can find what he lost and grab a nice win, but I highly doubt it will happen.

If that works, fair fecks to you.

I'm guessing this is Enzo's name in Russian! Энцо Маккаринелли

Realise Enzo might have gone a bit down in recent fights but this guy is very beatable, seen a bit of him and he can dig fair enough but he is not the most elusive, if Enzo believes in himself here he knocks this guy out for me and early on. Still perhaps I am thinking of the Enzo pre Haye.

We will know shortly I guess
