FROM THE SUN
FRANK MALONEY has launched a blistering attack on the WBC following the shameful scenes that disgraced boxing.
The fight manager (below) is furious at the way the world’s top organisation messed up the judging after Michael Brodie’s 12-round featherweight showdown against Korean Injin Chi descended into farce.
Maloney was gobsmacked when WBC president Jose Sulaiman first gave the fight to Chi on points — but then changed his mind and made it a majority draw.
He raged: “The WBC claims to be the top organisation of boxing but what happened in Manchester disgraces the game.
“Boxing gave itself a black eye and, if it carries on, then the sport will suffer even more damage.
“It’s crazy there are so many boxing organisations who can basically make up their own rules.
“Until boxing gets one controlling worldwide body, then it will be very difficult for the sport to move forward.”

Maloney shouldn't be throwing stones.

Sounds to me like Maloney might've lost a packet betting on Chi to win the title.

Maloney has never liked Jose Sulaiman since his fighter Lennox Lewis was stopped in two rounds by Oliver McCall for the WBC heavyweight title in what Maloney saw as a dodgy stoppage (and it handed the title back to Sulaiman's mate, Don King). He harangued Sulaiman in the ring afterwards and there's a funny picture of the mental midget, his face contorted with rage, spitting fury at the WBC President. Harry Mullan wrote a caption to the picture in Boxing News: "Maloney looks fit to be tied!"
Funnily enough, they show a head shot of the picture on allegedly TV.

While he's probably right about Senor Jose, I can't take anything Maloney says seriously - he really does talk a load of bollocks half the time.
Parading round in that daft Union Jack suite, then after Lewis dumps him, he predicts Lewis loses in about his next 5 fights, almost saying he was never any good anyway.

You know, Mighty Warrior, I've got family in Crayford, Kent, where Maloney lives and used to run a pub. He became a bit of a celebrity in the area when he signed Lennox Lewis in 1989, and people would stop in at the pub to meet Maloney and have a chat. One day, my old gran was taken there to see him. She wasn't very good on her legs and Maloney was asked to come over and say hello. My gran saw him coming and uttered the immortal words: "That crooked little bastard!"
