Boxrec forum's favourite fearless warrior didn't get on the plane to attend the press conference for his fight with Timothy Bradley.
Anyone like to call him a ducker?

If the contracts are signed the fight is on regardless if he goes to the press conference or not.

Nope, it's off. Looks like Maidana's co-promoter has confirmed it.

Maidana’s co-promoter, moments ago informing him that Maidana was pulling out of the fight. “Eric told me Maidana missed his flight to the U.S. and later in the same conversation told me Maidana’s back was still injured and that he would not be fighting Timmy on July 17,” said Shaw. “Obviously Maidana’s back was not getting any better and a call to us last week from Team Maidana would have been the professional thing to do.

in hindsight.

i don't think khan would have know this was going to happen, suddenly redeeming him.

its been said before - maidana fought himself into the mandatory position and had to sign a contract to stay away from khan till 2011. They are now trying to get a loss for him to make sure he never meets khan.

Bradley is a true warrior - shame khan isn't

Guys if his back is injured his back is injured. What do you expect him to do?

I wouldn't fight Bradley unless i was 100% neither.

That said, it's always a top notch excuse as its hard to diagnose.

Bradley doesn't want to fight Alexander so who is available?
Zab Judah?Kotelnik?

Either of those would be decent tests.

Judah is a big fight in it's own right i reckon.

He should be fighting Alexander anyway. Bradley has turned into a bit of tit recently. He's on about not being offered enough money to face Alexander, but he isn't a big draw in the first place. He should realise HBO subsidises his fights. Go to St Louis and fight Alexander for all the marbles at 140 in front of 20,000 people.

Winner of Ortiz - Campbell maybe, although it depends on whether Bradleys 17/07 date is flexible or not.

Pity, we needed a tourny at 140, hopefully Bradley gets a top opponent. Alexander is begging for the fight but I dont think they'll make it on short notice. Whos else is going to fancy it? Bradleys a big task for any 140lber

If Maidana's back miraculously heals and he then goes on to fight someone else in a similar time scale to the Bradley fight, then yeah I think we can say Maidana has ducked Bradley.

But lets see how this plays out first, it could be a legit injury, you seem somewhat keen to slate Maidana, give him the benefit of the doubt until you know better.

I don't believe for a second that Maidana is ducking Bradley. (Nearly did a very unfortunate typo there). Either he is genuinely injured or he is doing a Haye and exaggerating the injury to get out of a bad deal. I'd favour the former explanation.
