WBA #1 middleweight Anthony Mundine has less than 48 hours to sign a contract to fight #2 rated Gennady Golovkin for the vacant WBA belt after Monday’s WBA purse bid in Las Vegas. Golovkin’s advisor Ivaylo Gotzev says Golovkin is willing to fight Mundine in his homeland. “We will fight Mundine on his home turf and win the title in Australia if he decides to show up,” stated Gotzev. “We don’t care if we fight in his backyard. Let his family be the judges. When Gennady Golovkin hits him with either hand, nothing else will matter. He will knock Mundine out!”

well i would hope so, but i dont think so.... he wont want to get KO'd here, it was bad enuff that he was sprawled all over the news and papers taking a nap last time

If Mundine signs and this will be a big ask to take this bout, Mundine will start feel that his nuts are dangling just above the blender.

But sadly our Man won't be putting his mark on the dotted line as a KO defeat will send him into retirement as his preference is to milk the current local PPV scene with beat ups of stumble-bums.

There was no plausible excuse for him to vacate his SMW title instead if facing mandatory challenger, Kessler. There was no plausible excuse for him to renege on his rematch obligation with Geale either. The bloke has about the same amount of credibility as a vegetarian crocodile.

No doubt he will say he was ready to sign the contract but they didn't send it and then it was to late and now they don't want the fight but he really wanted to knock that sucker out.

Or he will say he really wanted the fight but was already contracted to fight Wood do he cant, he asked to fight after Wood but they were too scared of the man and said no, blah blah blah

According to the WBA Epic Sports in association with Top Rank have won the purse bid for the fight to take place in July with a bid of $US 1,121,000. It will look bad for Mundine if it does not go ahead.

Meanwhile, the Darchinian/Donaire fight has fallen through because after six weeks the Donaire camp have not signed the contract.

and people go on about how bad the IBO is, lol. they all just as bad as the other, WBA super, and regular champ, WBC Regular and diamond champ, IBO letting low ranked fighters fight for the title, its all average at best

I have little to no regard for Mundine. Golovkin has offered to come here, as with all WBA vacant title fights in history the purse is always 50/50 so Mundine can't get out of it that way. There is no excuse whatsoever for choc not to sign up.

Mundine will be knocked out!!!! of that I have no doubt, but lets see some warrior spirit, get that thing sign and get in the ring with Golovkin. If Choc does'nt sign he will be a 100% fraud, and it does'nt matter how many taxi drivers and binmen from South America he fights and he gets a UD from in the future - the fact that he ducks world class opponents will hang off him like a bad smell for life.

I voted no by the way. I don't think he nor Boxa has the bottle, a fact they demonstrated by wimping out of the Kessler fight.

I bet he is right now sucking on his contact lenses. That's the only way out for him. Mind you if he does fight here under an Aussie flag, I will be hoping he surprise everyone and rises to the challenge. I am one of 'the bland's' biggest critics on here but I still think he has sublime skills

Indeed. Mundine has run his race. He is in a lose/lose. If he fights he loses (literally), if he doesn't he loses (aka loser). Seems this is what he was born to be...a loser. Destiny is reached, lifelong goal fulfilled. End of fornicating story.

Don't knock the binmen! A lot of good fighters are or were garbos. With the old trucks you got roadwork from running alongside and weightlifting from picking up the bins, as well as wages from the council.

everyone seems so confident Mundine will not beat Gennady Golovkin. Why?

I am from Europe, I have seen Golovkin during his Amatuer days, In his amatuer days he was a world beater, in fact he was one of the best. He is not quite at that level in the Pro's but I think he would have enough ringcraft to dispatch Mundine. The main weakness of mundine is when he starts throwing his fast combinations he is wide open, Golovkin has the skill and the record of planting it on the chin and putting him on his arse. Mundine has fought fighters in the past 4 years of not being able to take advantage of that flaw, and I suggest you go to you tube and take a look at the crazy kim fight.

I will as a Brit in Australia support Choc 100% if he takes this fight (just the same as everyone on this board) even though it will not be for a real world title but he will not take this fight because he is protected by Boxa promotions!

But even though I said that Golovkin will KO this one, if it happens I will be supporting Mundine and hoping he does overcome the odds!!

Past experience. Two of his three losses have been against European boxers.

Mundine is getting on and Golovkin is a very talented boxer. One who can really punch as well. He put Bute on his bum with a beautiful shot in the amateurs. Golovkin will land and I don't think Mundine can take it.

one thing mundine has going for him is that he is hard to tag flush. hes got the shoulder roll defence happening. i just feel that this is his biggest step up in a long time and he aint gonna deal with it too well.
