Hello gentlemen - Thanks for your advice last week on training methods - I boxed tonight in the Tyne Tees And Wear Novice ABA'S (Under 10 bouts)
but unfortunately I got beat on a majority decision at 69kgs. This was the first time I have boxed for 6 years but I feel ur advice wasn't wasted - I shall plod on and see how I do - many thanks for taking the time to advise me

My pleasure, I'm glad it was of help.

After 6 years out, you should take some encouragement from the result, as it appears that you can still compete and by being positive and determined you will only get better.

Well done and keep me posted.

Well done mate - you went the distance. That shows an awful lot.

And you want more - the toughness and heart is there. Believe me, thats one of the things that you can't tell from sparring.

Good effort - although at 69 kg, your at my current weight so no more advice!!

Only joking, I'm not exactly in fight fitness and have about a stone to lose (maybe more).

First fight in 6 years, your an inspiration - due to Uni I aint fought for 3, but want to be back by March.

And hopefully at Lightweight - although, feel quite strong at the moment.

I was very nervous prior to the bout, mainly due to the fact that all of the boxers had to get changed and ready in the same tiny room - my opponent was 3 feet away from me. I also tasted amateur boxings ridiculous side when the doctor ordered me to remove the stubble from my face before I fought!! I had to run to a corner shop for some razors and then have a shave in the sink in the toilets - not ideal preparation. I am 30 years old and have been around boxing for a long time but I have never seen this rule enforced before....
