"The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered two important eliminators in the light heavyweight division. The purse bids for these eliminators will take place on May 10 at Sofitel Budapest in Hungary. The first eliminator will feature Nathan Cleverly (19-0, 9KOs) of Wales against Karo Murat (23-0, 13KOs) of Germany. The second eliminator will feature Denis Lebedev (20-0, 15KOs) of Russia against Aleksandr Alekseev (19-1, 17KOs) of Russia. The minimum bid for both eliminators is $300,000 dollars."

The writer made a mistake by the way. Lebedev - Alekseev is a cruiserweight eliminator, just checked the WBO website.

I'm not sure what the story with Braehmer is. Isn't he being shipped off to prison for 16 months soon enough, that means he will have to vacate?
Murat is good, not spectacular. A bit like Abraham as he hides behinds his peekaboo defense when he is walking in, often gives away early rounds before stepping it up a level. Lovely left hook, good connection rate and a decent jab when he gets it going. Didn't see his most recent fight but have watched him in the past. Would be interesting to see him against better opposition.

Hope this happen, really interesting fight. Both fighters have alot of potential and both are unbeaten.
Be a big step up for Cleverly, but think he's ready.

Karo Murat has looked pretty good when I've seen him, which is not much. He held his own against Kessler in sparring, but, if I remember correctly, Kessler got the better of it.

murat is kind of like abraham without the punch. i think we'll see lots of good body punching in cleverly v murat. both dig the body well.
alexeev v lebedev could be great. we'll see how far alexeev has come after that little hiccup against victor ramirez. alexeev was a great amateur and looks great in the pros when smashing up overmatched foes. he's a really polished fighter. this could be the making of him, winning a tough elim, and then taking on WBO champ huck.

Do you think Cleverly-Murat will happen though? I don't.

Interesting fight. Winnable for Cleverly, but like others I don't think it will happen.

i reckon FW wants some new world champs. a WBO elim is surely a step in that direction. winner could possibly get declared champ if braehmer gets locked up. i think give cleverly something to fight for and keep him making progress. however, if it ends up in germany that's another thing. will they go along with that? if the fight ends up in the UK will the germans pull some kind of stunt?

WBO eliminator is a step in the right direction..... but look at Clev's history. I think Murat might be deemed too dangerous.
I anticipate a straight to vacant title fight if he is to fight Murat.

why not? just watched some video's of murat and he looks pretty basic, nothing special about him, throws about 20 punches a round...has a good defence tho and a good left hook, no real speed tho, clev would beat this lad up

As Stu said above, matching Cleverly against Murat would be risky. Murat beat Campillo, who should have been given the decision over Shumenov in their recent World title bout. I haven't seen Murat vs Campillo, but he must have done something right as Campillo has a high work rate and is a good, fluid boxer. I'm not sure Cleverly is as good as Campillo yet.

Cleverly-Murat sounds a fight that I am not surprised by both are angling for world title shots and the ratings seem interesting
IBF: Cleverly Number 3 Murat Number 15
WBA: Murat Number 4 Cleverly Number 11
WBC: Murat Number 3 Cleverly Number 5
WBO Murat Number 2 and Cleverly Number 3
Which makes a very tight and interesting fight although Cleverly has got the belts that people take notice and respect with the British/European and Commonwealth belts on his record.

"BS.com was advised that a very big event is being planned for Wales in early September. The card would feature a doubleheader with local fan favorites Nathan Cleverly and Enzo Maccarinelli.
The main event would feature a WBO light heavyweight eliminator between Cleverly (19-0, 9KOs) and Karo Murat (23-0, 13KOs) of Germany. There is a purse bid scheduled for May 10 in Hungary, but I've been informed by sources cloe to the negotiations that Cleverly's promoter allegedly is close to reaching a deal with Murat's promoter, Sauerland Event.
The co-feature would see Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KOs) make the first defense of his EBU cruiserweight title. The likely opponent is undefeated Alexander Frenkel (22-0, 17 KOs) of Russia, who I believe is the official challenger to that title.
The event, from what I've been told, is going to be a major event with a stacked undercard featuring a lot of Warren's younger talent. The event date is being targeted for the first week of September."

That would be a cracking fight, and a solid test for Cleverly. And if Macca-Frenkel was on the card as well then it could be a great night for Welsh boxing. Maybe they could get Rees on it as well

hopefully, but we know what sauerland are like regarding location, don't we? they have to have home advantage for both kessler-froch and the upcoming froch-abraham. froch's side said they had an agreement with sauerland to have it in the UK...

They might find Fwank a bit harder to have over than "Meaty",though...

Not sure but Dai Gardner and Brian Coleman will try and get Miles V Brooks on for the vacant Welsh CW title.
