1) Norton
2) Shavers
3) Witherspoon
4) Cooney
5) Berbick

A prime Berbick to me slightly edges out Mercer, who I think has gotten extremely over-rated with time.

Circumstances make it hard…

David Bey might not be rated highly now but he had just decisioned the talented Greg Page who many claim Larry ducked. Going in Bey had to be a stiff challenge based on that result.

Also are we supposed to take the career stage of Holmes into consideration? Beating Mercer was a top win considering the spare tyre and grey stubble Holmes was sporting for that bout.

I think…

Good quality wins are

Roy Williams
Ken Norton
Mike Weaver I
Earnie Shavers I
Earnie Shavers II
Tim Witherspoon
Trevor Berbick
Gerry Cooney
James Smith
Ray Mercer

Looking back Holmes seemed to get fighters just pre-prime and Tyson just post-prime.

The trouble is that the 'primes' were so short for some of
these fighters.
