The Trashing of Fighters of the Modern Era

It appears that certain members of the http://www.boxrec.com community blatantly trash the champions and fighters of the modern era in the most cynical manner possible.

I paraphrase, of course, but here are some examples:

1) "Jimmy Young was better than Ali" - Okay. Young won 34, lost 19, drew 2. Ali: 56-5-0. ?

2) "Ken Norton never beat a good fighter" - Didn't he beat Muhammad Ali, Jerry Quarry and, oh yes, Jimmy Young?

3) "Ali quit in his corner like a yellow dog as soon as Holmes decided to open up finally with a few serious punches." - You mean a shot, flabby Ali? Ali may have been many things but a coward wasn't one of them. Was Liston a yellow dog for quitting on his stool? Was Frazier for allowing Futch to pull him out of the Ali fight?

4) "Hagler was a small boned, physically weak 160 pounder as compared with the top middleweights in history." When was the last time you got punched by Hagler? Sugar Ray Robinson was two inches taller than Hagler so if they both made the middleweight limit it's clear who is the smaller boned of the two. And regarding strength, Hagler's knockout ratio is superior to Sugar Ray's.

It's a real shame when bitterness and hatred get in the way of logic, rational discussion and mutual respect. :(

This is madness.

Hagler was extremely strong. He pushed around Tony Sibson, John Mugabi, Bennie Briscoe, Fully Obel, Juan Roldan and Mustafa Hamsho.

All these fighters were incredibly strong, but Hagler outlasted and punished all of them.

Ken Norton beat several good and some great fighters.

Jimmy Young was a good fighter but not better than Ali.

Terap,

Your bitterness is not only evident, it is consuming you.

TERAP, FOR A WHILE I GAVE YOU THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT...

NOW I AM CERTAIN...

You, sir, are an arrogant, blind, self serving, master of distortion as well as the one of the most IGNORANT individuals ever to post on ANY BOARD, ANYWHERE...

You bitch, moan & complain about 'poisonous mantras'....

What the f--- are you spewing on a daily basis...

Certainly NOT the truth...

YOU are the originator of the "poisonous mantras" you preach about...

Now be sure to quickly post something about "Ali shill"....

Give me a break...AND GO DRY OUT, ALREADY. GET YOUR ASS INTO DE-TOX. YOU'RE ON DRUGS!!!!

why are you discrediting Haglar for struggling against a middleweight Duran??? Duran was a great, and that 'fat, overwight' Duran would have given any middleweight in history a very very difficult fight at close range

For someone calling Roberto Duran fat... One must wonder how fat Terap is, since all he does is cut-n-paste, jerk off, and eat doritos.

I bet my comment makes me an Ali shill...

I bet teraps comments will soon get him banned.

In fact I will say....

terap, you aren't a bad poster, it's just your approach, If you were more calm about things, alot more people would respect you alot.

NO...you can't BAN him...

Then, he'd have something in common with Ali...

They'd BOTH have gotten banned from the only thing they could do...

And Terap might not be as 'good' after his 'comeback'...
