i'm looking forward to the fight and don't mind fighters shooting their mouth off a bit here and there, but this mitchell fellow seems to be mouthing off every day about everybody he can. i never even heard of the guy 6 months ago and now all of a sudden he is talking himself up like he's the next ali.

is it a tad over the top do u think?

kev has always been like that, he is a top lad, real working class...family guy and a very good fighter!

Tickets to sell, lots of press releases to give Mitchell every chance of getting into the papers

Mitchell was national amateur champ at 18 and highly touted and he had really bad hand trouble which really hindered his progress and he's done well to come back from it and is flourishing and I think he's just trying to make hey while the sun shines. He's been down to the depths and is making the most of his big chance. He'll wipe the floor with Katsidis.

Its boxing, it sells tickets and gets you known. Kevin does blast off a bit but he doesnt have the arrogance I have seen with Carl Froch. Having said that Carl was starting to become more humble, some while before his first loss. Mitchell has had a hard time getting himself known and lets be honest it wasnt until he beat Prescott that he got some recognition from overseas. If he can beat Katsidis I think he will begin to be a big name. Londoners are usually a bit outspoken and cockey especially those from the East End. I lived there for the first 25 years of my life and thats what I found. The East End had a terrible time in WW2 and its survivors do come over as a bit gobby. I believe a lot of it has to do with pride.

I'm from East London myself, and there's quite a few people who I know that are going to this fight who know very little about boxing. But, they've been intrigued in by Mitchell's press work, which proves he's doing something right.

As a cockney, Mitchell's mouth is an everyday sort of thing to me, but I can see how he can come across as annoying to people from other parts.

As a cockney, Mitchell's mouth is an everyday sort of thing to me, but I can see how he can come across as annoying to people from other parts.

I think living in London we are used to cockneys shooting their mouths off so to us it seemed pretty normal. A few years back I stopped on a caravan site in Norfolk and in the next van were a bunch of cockneys. All you could hear was the word bastard day and night plus other ripe language. People were complaining to the site office so the cockneys stepped up their bad language. To be honest I was ashamed they came from the same place as me. Seems to me some Londoners away from home like to let everyone know where they are from. Decent Londoners dont do that of course.

I agree- he seems full of himself, despite beating very few people of note.

can't agree with that. When Carl stepped up he met the same banger twice and couldn't work him out. I believe he declined quite a lot from earlier in his career, he looked a good bit slower to me even in his Mitchell fight. In earlier days he comfortably won and defended his domestic belt, which to me suggests he could have mixed higher up....just obviously not against Leva Kirakosyan.

I'm from the North and have lived here all my life. Mitchell comes across just fine to me, he's one of my favourite handful of active fighters. Always seems to talk down to earth, open and honestly. I enjoyed his piece in the BN or BM (forget which it was, in the last month or so).

If you never heard of him up 6 months ago then you obviously do not follow British boxing that well as he has been a British Champion (as well as Commonwealth) and an ABA Champion

Explain to me please who he has run his mouth off about? I'm not asking you to name 'everybody' like you say he does, I'm asking you to name just 'one'.

Is he talking himself up to be the next Ali? I haven't him talk himself up as such. Anyway, do you begrudge him if he did? Whats wrong with a young fighter who is ambitious having a bit of self belief?

I'm only assuming and I know assumtions are not necassarily correct but I feel you may be a little jealous or resentfull for some reason

I provided a link to one of his latest interviews and he isn't gobby at all in that. Buster007 should provide some proof if he's going to moan.
