The Spider passed away yesterday.
Was he the first fighter to win the same title (British) as their father?

Jimmy had a fair few nicknames in his time and that was indeed one of them.

BOXING is in mourning following the death yesterday of former British and Commonwealth featherweight champion Billy ‘Spider’ Kelly. He was 78.
Spider was an outstanding boxer who regularly topped bills at the King’s Hall. He also lost a points decision to Ray Famechon for the European title at Donnybrook Bus Depot in 1955.
He defeated Roy Ankrah to win the Commonwealth belt a year earlier and outpointed Sammy McCarthy for the British belt.
The Commonwealth title was lost to the great Hogan Kid Bassey in ’55 and the Lonsdale belt to Charlie Hill in ’56, which sparked a King’s Hall riot.
