Peter Okhello is back.
So is swine flu. Just as interesting. What has he done? Beat an overweight cruiserweight?

He was initially matched with Richard Tutaki, but unable to travel Tauasa took the fight at short notice.

I couldn't agree with you more.
I've been in Japan for five boxing shows (so far) and although I've found the scoring to be fair, the refereeing is criminal! The Japanese referees literally steal fights by proclaiming TKOs against foreign fighters that are NOT hurt.
Were any of you there (Osaka) to watch the heavyweight fights on the undercard of cazares/nashiro? If so, then you saw THREE ridiculous stoppages, including one of the worst excuses for a TKO I've ever seen in my 18 years as a boxing fan: Okhello Peter W Lawrence Tauasa "TKO" 6.
Tauasa (who took the fight on FOUR DAYS NOTICE) completely controlled the fight, backing Japan-based Peter up the entire time by using a simple formula of head movement, body shots, and hard counter-punches. In the last round Peter began throwing (throwing, but not landing) heavy shots, with most landing on Tauasa's gloves. And then... the Japanese ref jumps in waving his hands wildly, and throws his arms around Tauasa! The fight was over, and Tauasa was robbed of his hard-earned victory. I couldn't believe it.
As I mentioned, Tauasa wasn't the only foreign fighter to get "jobbed" last night, his was just the most blatant. If I can get a tape of the fight, I'll post it.

This post quoted from Joe Boxer on the Nashiro--Cazares thread.

Message from the matchmaker!
Richard Tutaki didn't come. We got Lawrence Tauasa on a plane
at the last minute. Moving his head like Joe Frazier, he pushed
Peter all over the ring, hurt him to the body and head with fast
combinations and counters. Going into the last round I had Lawrence up
4-1. About a minute in Peter hit Lawrence with a good shot, threw
three more, all of which Lawrence blocked, and the Japanese ref
jumped in waving his hands for a TKO win for Peter. Total robbery.
Lawrence wasn't even wobbled.

One would hope, but not so sure. Seems as long as there are boxers who need money,
they will go.

Thats a joke, It really amazes me that it can still happen. especially considering that the fight will be recorded.

Lawrence Tauasa looked like a shot fighter against Troy Ross. I don't know if that's just because Ross is a very good fighter though.

With a 23-1 record, his only loss 5 years ago, Ross is rather tasty.
We will find out how good he is next month when he fights Cunningham for the vacant IBF Cruiserweight title.

I think Cunningham will win, but Ross is just about the most live underdog you could find. It should be a good fight.

I wonder how Clarence Tillman would have done with Peter last week.
Maybe it's a match-up we'll see down the road...

As far as Peter Okhello goes he should fight over here where the Titles are , otherwise he will be the champion of about 3 heavyweights in Japan.

He never got this far. He won three prelim fights in New Zealand and he is going back to the States for another prelim fight.
