HOF VOTE: MICHAEL SPINKS

Managed by Kevo in the light heavy season.
According to stat man Crease:
* Harry Greb tournament champion (first man to beat Fox)
* 2 time undisputed champion
* A "triple champions" holding the WBA, WBC, IBF titles.
* The 2nd man to unify the four titles.
* 1 time WBU title champ with 7 title defences
* (ongest WBU title reign.
* Held EVERY world title
Should Michael Spinks enter the Hall of Fame?
My vote is a big yes vote.

If you are going to include Spinks it shouldn't be for the highlighted reasons.

Didn't Riddock Bowe have the most WBU title defences anyway?

Yeah, he had close to 20 I think!!

Spinks and Max should be allowed......Max because he so much lower rated and yet he carved out a pretty good season as well.
Max also took the Titles from TJF.

Bowe not only did that, he went on to Unify All Titles.....and then Kevo sent Tyson over.....and that was not a good day....but he was on the rebound........and then the damn season ran out on him..

Moore a top rated fighter that took over half the season to get on a winning streak? He should have been top 10 every week. Instead Max was. and yes Max was top 10 every week.

That was Conn.....you must not mix up premier gold standard fighters.

We must look at ALL of the fighters achievements.
And... YES! I would say that Spinks is a Hall Of Famer.

In my opinion Rosenbloom just didn't do enough to be include in the Hall Of Fame...
No disrespect to BoxBuzz he hustled a good season for his boxers, Rosenbloom in particular.

This is true... However though you have mentioned that Rosenbloom defeated Fox for the Undisputed Titles (in Week 32)...
I just don't think one close victory is enough.
* Rosenbloom never dominated the Heavyweight scene like Fox did.
* Rosenbloom divided the unified titles.
* Never unified any of the titles... But he did lose his IBF title in a unifcation fight against Calzaghe in Week 14.
As I said before, he hasn't done enough...

ROSSENBLOOM DIDN'T MAKE ONE WINNING DEFENCE OF HIS TITLES.

I believe that Moore certainly is worth a mention, But from week 21- through to week 34 he lingered around as a top contender without achieving anything.
He did win the WBU title in Week 20, but lost it on his first defence.
But Moore came back strongly, after winning the triple championship with a victory over Calzaghe, and from here, he marched on to defeat Spinks and re-unify the 4 titles...
He finished very strongly.
But for me, he was a non-enitity for too long to make it into the Hall Of Fame.
The best thing that can be said is that:
The Light Heavyweight Undisputed titles are hanging in Sav's gym above the portrait of Archie Moore.
No, not a Hall Of Famer... (Sorry Sav)

In a race between TJF and Max....Max loses......However if there were a second person to make the grade, I think Max is Spink's equal. I really don't think there are any other viable candidates for the season though.

Not true, on several occasions he walked away from a title defense and remained the champion. The fact that he enjoyed tormenting his opponents by letting them come so close without winnning what it was they sought, only adds to his legendary and uniquely frustrating persona.

Well, Fox is in the Hall Of Fame, that decision was unanimously.
BoxBuzz wrote:However if there were a second person to make the grade, I think Max is Spink's equal.
I disagree... Spinks has done more 'Buzz... And I think you know that.
BoxBuzz wrote:I really don't think there are any other viable candidates for the season though.
As a said earlier, Moore is worth a mention... And Foster and Dillon are certainly worth noting...
But the others like Charles, just didn't perform on the highest level.

I don't agree Crease....If I agreed I would say these words
"I agree".
Max was 3 time champ and ended up fighting in the finale. No one had more championship (not counting the goofy wbu title) fights than Max other than TJF. The fact that I allowed him some rest and did not treat him like a buzz saw, is irrelevant....and I think you know that and agree. As a manager I treat my fighters like they matter and are not just some software on a hard drive. But they are people who deserve respect and guidance, and opportunity.
And when opportunity knocks we answer the door. But we don't just dart out in front of busy traffic and successfully perservere over all odds at any risk, just because we can.
Now say the words "I agree" and prove to me that you are a thinkin' man.

'Draw Kings' don't belong in the HOF, and you know it.

Well... Fox, Foster, Dillon and Rosenbloom asll held the Undisputed title 2 times...
Rosenbloom will be remembered 'Buzz... You did a good job with him!
But he isn't a Hall Of Famer.

Well no one other than TJF makes that grade, but Spinks and Max are the only others that might, and I think your right the answer is neither. And TJF is only in because of a flaw in the dynamo.

crease you forgot to mention he had BY FAR the most knockouts. even more than TJF and the 2nd most wins.
