is paul smith fighting brian magee next?

if so what an inappropriate way to title a thread.

maybe trying to get Paul smith to look in

or a headline like Smigga will encourage more people to look in it than say Mageeza

decent fight if it comes off

I think Smith wins this one.

Magee for me esp in Ireland, Smith hasn't the one shot power to trouble him in his weak dept

Come on lets get real if anyone if that confident of this fight going either way then they are either the smartest bloke I know or a div. It will be a good close fight (as long as Smigga accepts a reasonible share of the purse! ;) )

I understand everyone is entitled to an opinion but why label the thread Smigga?? There is already a topic about Smith Vs Magee so why not just post the comment there??

I'd also like to say if your so sure on Magee and you'll put your house on it how about offering me some decent odds on Paul Smith?? I'll take anything reasonable..

Smith seems to be coming along steadily, if, it seems, slowly. I think for me his fight(s ?) against that other Scouse lad (Quigley?) , very scappy business, take a bit of shine off.
Magee is a real good (south paw ??) boxer. I would lean toward him to be honest - tho admittedly not based on a huge amount of knowledge of either. I just think to beat Magee you need to be very good as he seems no mug to me, underrated - not saying Smith is like.
Personally I was surprised and took my hat off to Froch after stopping Magee.....I didn't envisage that at all.

They say Brian Magee defends his European super-middleweight title against Liverpool hope Paul Smith in the summer, they say in Liverpool, where Smith has attracted 6.000-strong crowds in recent fights.
Magee won the title with a rare show of power against Danish star Mads Larsen in Denmark in January. He destroyed a man who entered the ring with a record of 51-2, dropping Larsen in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds before it was stopped. It ranks as a career-best display from the strong, clever Belfast southpaw who hasn't lost since Carl Froch caught up with him in 11 rounds in May 2006.
Smith competes at a lower level but picked up the British super-middleweight title, a title made vacant by Magee, in a dour all-Liverpool affair with Tony Quigley last year. He retained in another all-Liverpool affair with Tony Dodson earlier this year. Both fights went the full 12 rounds.
Smith is a bruiser who thumps the ambition out of his opponents, particularly with body shots. Dodson seemed more intent on butting him than anything else but, despite cuts around the left eye, Smith maintained his forward march and proved a comfortable enough winner. Victory took the Scouser's record to an imposing 29-1 (15). His only loss came to a southpaw like Magee, Coventry’s Steve Bendall, who outscored Smith in a 10-rounder in 2008. It was a surprise loss.
Nevertheless, home advantage for Smith makes this pick 'em. Magee knows how to box and his greater skill may prove the difference but Smith, still improving at 27, brings greater desire and workrate.
I have a feeling that Smith comes good.

I have had my spats with Mr Smigga - there seems to be a truce at present which I am enjoying as he seems to get the better of me here and there!!!

However - for those who are getting upset at the opening post in this thread - I truly cannot understand what is wrong with the post - If Barney wants to go "fishing" and people take the bait - surely its their problem not the original poster?? - he hasn't wrote anything abusive or insulting and is entitled therefore to have written what he has - or are we now stating this is the "Liverpool Boxrec Forum" where you cannot criticise anything scouse?

I have a healthy respect for Paul Smith - always have done - but I also enjoy friendly banter as others do with me - I have always stated and there is no wind up intended that I think Brian Magee beats Paul Smith - it seems I am in the minority and I have no problems with that.

I do however have a problem just because the original poster has posted what he has - he gets slagged off for it. If boxers want to come onto this forum - they have to take the banter that goes with it - if they want to come back with their own then fair enough - game on!!! - however stop throwing your teddies out of your prams everytime someone criticises or has an observation which doesnt agree with yours!!! - it seems its okay to criticise posters like myself and others yet its WRONG to have a pop at boxers.

British Boxrec is a forum for all walks of life - not just for the poltically correct.

Boxing is a robust sport which attracts individuals with some "rough edges".

Like I have stated in the past I have no problem in havin banter with anyone BUT why list a topic Smigga and then say in simple words he's gonna get beat in it??? If he really believes what he's saying then why didn't he just write his opinion in the Magee Vs Smith thread?? Once again there is no answer for the question I have put forward other than that it was just a personal swipe at Paul which is just plain out of order imo.. .
