Dont know about you lot - but the skinny lad from Birmingham - Frankie Gavin - for me has been very impressive since his professional debut.

What do you guys think of his progress so far??

Do you rate the lad?

At this early stage do you think he is the top prospect we have in the country??

I hope you 2 stay loyal to Arnie - he might be an ugly **** who wears some hideous glasses  - but all seriousness he is going to be a top trainer in my view - I hope you and Frankie remember who helped you get there when you get to title fights - thats when other smelly c*nts come in with their offers - I believe fighters should stay loyal to their trainers - if they are good enough they will get there in the end!!

As for Frankie - I truly believe he is just below Kell Brook in my view with regards to being the top prospect in this country - although I hope Liam Cameron soon appears in the frame.

Good luck with your career!! :TU:

I think he's look very good so far, slight misgiving about his willingness to get involved in a scrap when he doesn't need to, which has lead to a couple of cuts. But has all the skills and punch variation needed for the pro game.

Was going to mention the punch power Ian - does he have the necessary to take him far?

As much as I rate Kell Brook Spud mate, I think he's out the prospect bracket now. He's genuine top 15 Welterweight if you ask me.

I think if he has the chin for top level (not seen anything to show he's not), and with his skills and variety of punch, i don't think he needs a 1 punch KO power.
Obviously it would be good if he had that, but he looks like he still punches with authority.

Not having a big punch hasn't harmed the likes of Mayweather.

Spot on.. Frankie get's respect and peoples attention when he hits them.. Power can also sometimes be a detriment as people take it for granted and just load up and end up losing and looking soft sometimes..

Does anyone still think he isn't a hard puncher ? Having tasted a punch myself off Frankie it looks like he is hitting harder with every fight.
Class.

More talented than Kell Brook for me, who I don't rate as much as some. Gavin is pure class. And to think quite a few people picked him as the worst of the three Olympians Fwank signed when they first started their pro careers. I always thought he was the most gifted of the three. He's not as gifted as Khan, but you won't find many who are.

this lad is pure class. he is not a big puncher but when he steps up in competition i can see him stopping people late on in fights. i feel he would beat ANY light-welterweight in britain at the moment as long as he has good stamina.

Great prospect! I think he's the best of the Olympians by far and one of the best prospects in the game at the moment, not just Britain.
Fantastic balance and boxing brain, I think he's a defo star in the future as he has character also.

Agree with the sentiment here, although I'd go further and say he's the slickest British boxer in a long time. Khan isn't at all slick, just an athlete with sloppy basics. Khan is a great athlete though, I'd like to see Gavin develop as an athlete, he's not in the sort of shape you'd want from a world class prospect. Now if you had the best bits of Gavin and Khan and put them together in 1 fighter that would be something

Gavin looks a class act so far and he seems to be developing his man strength. He's gonna be formidable if he's got a decent chin and good engine. Hopefully he'll be sparking all and sundry in fromt of a jam packed NIA in a few years, come on the Brummie!!

Potential world class fighter, no question, and I think there are a few of them floating around British boxing at the moment.
