I agree, so was Katsidis in his interview also. Really nice guy.

You say class act, but I don't always like seeing that from a fighter. He just seemed to accept the defeat to easily.

Yeah Katsidis came across well and Kev gave a good honest appraisal instead of making excuses, both class lads. Was mitchell slurring words in teh interview?

a number of posters on here have been banging on about mitchell being a level above euro level. and while i appreciated his win over prescott, i felt it left many questions unanswered because so few punches were thrown.

he's just been savaged in 3 rounds. he's fallen quicker, and easier, than graham earl, a fighter whose legs seemed to have gone after the romanov fight. granted, katsidis has improved from that. but katsidis didn't blow away vincenzo escobedo, a pretty ordinary (if we're being honest) golden boy prospect. but he made very short work of kevin mitchell.

I completely agree - what a good lad Mitchell is.

Katsidis is a class guy too - I hope he boxes in this country again.

Who gives a toss World, European class or whatever - Kevin Mitchell conducted himself after a bad loss in a world class fashion and yes so did Katsidis - we had the fight hype and we saw what good guys they both are afterwards - it was good to see.

who gives a toss? many have been going on about this amazing level that mitchell has always operated at. he is a good boxer but he doesn't have loads of quality rounds.

a lot of ppl were very optimistic that he would simply beat "limited" katsidis and then get handed a world title with old man marquez perhaps looking for a payday elsewhere.

lots of complacent thinking that i feel can be addressed now. not right to just let it drop.

Katsidis: nice guy out of the ring, vicious inside it. Really whipping in the shots with venom when he had the chance.

No shame for Mitchell being beaten by such a hard fighter at this stage in his career.

I think it's all down to schooling though. Even an ordinary American fighter will be technically proficient, where as British fighters seem to struggle in this area because the level of training over here just isn't as good. People have been talking about how easy to hit Mitchell is almost from day one, yet his defense has never improved. Tonight he came in against a big puncher, left himself open and got ko'd.

Didn't see the interviews because I switched over to the Andy Lee fight but Katsidis is a really really good fighter. It reminded me alot of Poonsawat-Dunne.

What? Look at his record and you'll see there is nothing too impressive on it. I have always thought Mitchell was overrated. What has he done to suggest he would stop or dominate a proven world class operator like Katsidis as many predicted? Outbox Prescott? I'm not going to extremes. I thought Mitchell would take a very close decision with the possible aid of some home judges, but I knew there was a strong chance he would not be able to cope with Katsidis pressure and I was shocked to see how many people thought he would dominate this fight. I posted many times prior to tonight's fight that people needed to calm down and not come to too many conclusions after Mitchell's solid showing in his recent fights, because his opponents were not on Katsidis level.

how much do you think mitchell earned from that fight?

I wanted Mitchell to do it, for obvious reasons - for British boxing - but I *heart* Katsidis, what a come forward warrior and nice bloke too.

Definitely one of my favourite fighters. Will also be interesting to watch how Mitchell comes back.
