a lot has been questioned about his chin, and "to right too..."

but isn't the prove of this modern marvel in all honesty, equally needed to see him fight fighters his own size too? I mean he's always the bigger man, and by a stretch :OhYes:

will it equally mean "Stretched Out!" :o

He makes 140lb easily. Why does he need to move up?

By that argument Caballero should be fighting at middleweight.

That's a nonsense idea. Very few world-class fighters fight at a 'natural' weight. Khan at 140lb's is probably draining less than most belt-holders below heavyweight.

stop talkin shite Khan's natural weight is about 170 lbs.

I like Khan and I am a big supporter of his talent and potential,
I just think it needs to be proven honestly, the same as everbody else. Boxing needs to be honest to be improved!

So Khan should now be fighting at light heavyweight? You can only be taking the piss.

the lads 5'10, and I know he fights quite regular at the moment,

but between his longer spells from the ring, and BEFORE training starts for his next fight, you don't think he's running around at a 'natural' weight (size & age considered) between 160 -170?

how many 5'10 people, even younger ones who are strong and fit, weigh less than 'about' 160-170?

I take your point that some of his opponents have been fighting above their weight, Barrera springs to mind, and with Katsidis being mentioned as a possible next opponent he also would be fighting out of his weight division, and Khan would beat him comfortably in my opinion.

But Amir has just beaten a genuine Light-welter weight( a former champion at this weight aswell) quite easily. 140lb is, i beleive his best fighting weight at the moment and we may find that his punch resistance is greatly improved at this weight. If he fights Maidana, Bradley, or Alexander we will find out as they are sure to test his chin.

Looking at his overall physique though it would not surprise me if he matured into a Light Middleweight.

Honest questions and serious query into a sport we all love here are only OK as long as they don't put British fighters under scrutiny?
Oh, I get it, and I am British.

get a _ucken grip. just give us your thought as to Khan at 147, thats all.

Well in the world top ten at the moment at light welter there are 7 men who are 5.9 or taller and you must remember if you look at any guys who are average height and at there peak when they were 23 they were usualy a few weight divisions down.

So khan is only realy an inch taller than the average height for the weight and thru out boxing history men have boxed at lower weights when they were younger.

Asking a younger guy to put on weight he doesnt need to give someone a fair fight would be like asking an older naturally more stocky guy not to use the extra strength that comes with maturity.

Maybe we are not allowed to put Jim under scrutiny!

The guy thinks Khan, a fit 23 year old man who boxes near his weight, puts on about two stone between fights...

I think we have either a troll or a loon on our hands.

well, I'm willing to bet he's well into the 150s at the moment and it's not even been a week after the fight...

Hey I like the guy and expect much of him - the same as I do other top fighters.
I was, and still am equally critical of Hopkins making a career at 160, where at least he should have been a S-MW years ago.

but anyway it's a fair question Khan at 147, so sorry if it upsets the applecart!

This is definitely a troll. Nobody could be so ridiculous to think height = natural weight regardless of build. Look at Caballero ffs, he's 5'11"

Khan only moved up to this weight 3 fights ago. Paul Williams says he can still make it to ww and he must be at least 6ft2. Fighters fight at the weight they can make without feeling too drained.

Idiot.

The ability to safely and effectively make weight is a huge part of any weight division based sport. Its no secret, anyone ambitious involved in sport at top level will be attempting to gain the same advantage. Its a science within a sport, its easy to get wrong and the consequences can be devestating. Also, how would you derive someone"s "natural" weight in sport?

No problem, he's just looking much bigger more and more, and I believe 147 IS his optimum weight now...

I suppose a better starting question to this thread is "how much is Khan weighing on fight night?
and how much is he weighing a few weeks, couple of months latter?"

I would bet the house a few weeks/couple of months after fights, he's weighing around 160 or more...
that's not a critism (neither was the original question), it's about average for people his size and build.

WTF are you on about, 150lbs a week after the fight!!!! He wouldve been nearly 150 (if not over 150) on Saturday night, its a result of day before weigh ins, nothing else.

If you seriosuly think any boxer on the planet shouldnt (and doesnt) use every legal advantage they can in such a demanding and brutal sport then you're daft. So what if he weighs 170lbs when hes out of the ring for 6 months, that matters nothing its all about the weight you make on the night of the weigh in, also, ask Cotto if it was an advantage for him to get down to 140 towards the end of his LWW career, or Hatton if it was a good move to give away his 140lb strength to go up to 147 initially against Collazo.
