My Heavyweight Prizefighter

Okay folks, I know that this is never going to happen but I decided in a quiet moment to put together a new heavyweight prizefighter using the top young talent in the UK. I left out thelikes of Harrison, Williams, Sprott and Haye for reasons of experience but have given John McDermott a spot because it rounds out an obvious eight man field.

The draw is as follows, based on a strict Boxrec ranking points system:

Sam Sexton -vs- Richard Towers
John McDermott - vs- Tom Dallas
Tyson Fury -vs- Larry Olubamiwo
Derek Chisora -vs- David Price

Who would you guys back to win, and what do you see as the shocks along the way?

Tyson Fury -vs- Larry Olubamiwo - Fury TKO1: warmachine didnt look too hurt, dave parris dived in too quick.

My take
Sexton v Towers: Sexton Points.
McDermott v Dallas. MeDermoot PTS3 as he uses his experience at a higher level to negate Dallas' power
Fury v Olubamiwo: KO1 Fury dispatches him with a crushing body shot
Chisora Price KO2 Chisora detontates on Price's chin.

Sexton wins comfterably on points
I think Dallas could pull it off winning a close UD
Fury on points outboxing Larry
Price from range picking off Del Boy, but coming through a few dodgy moments

Sexton wins a shutout
McDermott takes a competitive decision over Dallas
Fury wins a shutout, but a stoppage is possible.
Chisora wins a clear decision, hurting Price at some point during the fight.

Sexton vs McDermott- Sexton wins a decision
Fury vs Chisora- Chisora takes a 29-28 decision

Sexton-Chisora- Chisora wins a very close decision

Although this would be a heavyweight tournament, I think there is a good chance all the bouts go the distance. Still don't know why people seem to be ranking Price so highly. He hasn't shown me anything as a pro to suggest he beats Del Boy.

Pricey has shown he is technically sound, and likes to box off the back foot.

Whilst he hasn't always shown the killer finish, I'd like to think it's because he wants to get the rounds in.

If he was in a meaningful fight (not a learning fight, but an eliminator minimum), i'd truly believe we'd see Pricey start to explode a bit more.

Also, if one of these fights were against someone who'd come forward, such as Chisora, we may see an impressive display from the big man (he did look good in sparring against Dallas).

Anyway, my take...

Sexton - Towers... Sexton UD, comfortably picks Towers off on the back foot
McDermott - Dallas... McDermott SD, his solid chin and aggressive style just edges it
Fury - Larry... Fury SD, would love to see Larry knock him sparko though
Chisora - Pricey... Pricey UD, big man picks off Chis on the back foot, hurting him on the way

Quarter Finals

-Sam Sexton -vs- Richard Towers - Sexton clear win on points controls the fight
-John McDermott - vs- Tom Dallas - McDermott sneaks it by a round using his experience against a promising Dallas
-Tyson Fury -vs- Larry Olubamiwo - Tyson plays the boxing game and uses his range to take it on points, War Machine gave it a good crack but takes a bit of a thumping in the 2nd and gets up off the canvas.
-Derek Chisora -vs- David Price - Chisora tries to walk down, bully Price and Chisora keeps on him, working on taking away Prices natural advantage in this format. Chisora just on points, Price's chin is solid, good showing, could have gone either way as Price boxed great from the jab.

--------
Semi Finals

-Sexton vs McDermott - Sexton wins this technical matchup on points as he shows the quicker boxing skills, landing more to take it by a round or 2.
-Fury vs Chisora - Chisora pressures Fury who has to work off the back foot with little success. Fury landed some solid shots in the first while Chisora got his range against the taller man. Chisoras mid section took a beating you can see Chisora is feeling it but got through the 3 rounds for the points win. Tough fight.

--------
The Final

-Sexton vs Chisora -
First round Sexton stays at range on his double jab, moving well and using the ring, Sexton clearly takes it.
Second round Chisora knows he needs this, takes chances, get's inside and lands enough to look the better man this round, Sexton
swallows some punches but takes them well.
Third round Sexton comes out on the range offensive, following up his jab with solid straight rights. Chisora is going for broke, nothing to pretty but lands enough to be noted. They tie up allot but both come apart punching. It's a scrap to the end, no clear round winner. Either way

*Sexton wins on points due to dominating the first round and showing the better boxing throughout.
