I genuinly respect Bobby Czyz as a great boxer and two time world champion.

I respect his toughness and skill and abilities as a colour commentator where he is missed.

I vividly recall the Czyz-Holyfield fight. My recollection is that Holyfield although rusty and still on the comeback trail since the moorer title loss, he was dominating the fight from start to finish and only czyz's heart kept him in it.
Of course there followed the "burning eyes" scandal just as czyz seemed to be at the end of his tether. At the time czyz said he felt Evander was beyond reproach.

Seems he has a different attitude now and outright accuses Holyfield of cheating by blinding bobby and that he now suffers permanent damage to his eyes as a result!

Czyz is full of crap.

I was just discussing this with someone the other day.

Czyz was just getting beat up the whole fight.

I thought it was hilarious when he said Holyfield cheated.

I didn't know anyone believed it.

Czyz quit a fight he knew he would win because of having tabasco sauce in his eyes? Ridiculous, and he probably knows it.

Looked to me like Czyz was the one who quit with things not going his way. No one would blame him for that, he was a former middleweight fighting a heavyweight, if not for him coming out with excuses like this.

That was incredibly comical. I think he went from his eyes to his back at some point.

Czyz was one of the few that Evander didn't even head butt. He is a clown.

I remember that, I think I read somewhere at the time that Czyz was saying in his corner that it was his back, then his trainer told him to say it was his eyes.

The thing that slightly gets my goat, is Czyz was one of the incredibly biased Showtime team along with Albert and Pacheco who totally disregarded Evanders gamesmanship and headbutting in the two fights with Tyson , yet now Czyz comes out and says Evander was a blatant cheat!

LOL, Czyz was slobbering all over Tyson in the first fight. Some of the most biased commentary I've ever heard but it was the exact opposite of your post. The biggest headbutt in that fight was initiated by Mike.

It wasn't limited to that bout. Czyz generally equates Tyson with Superman in his mind.

LOL I remember Czyz's ridiculous scoring in the 1st Holyfield-Tyson bout, and during the 10th round Bobby says something like "who would've bet on a draw?" and Pacheco and Albert just sit there in stunned silence with this thought running through their minds "shut up Bobby, no-one except you have this fight close at all"

of course they would have been slobbering over Tyson in the first fight as he was their house fighter, but when the tide turn and Tyson did what he did. They dumped his ass quicker than a New York hoe drops a trick after she's been paid. All of a sudden "tyson was a deeply confused young man" and Holyfields cheating was papercracked over as it became apparent Tyson would be banned for a lengthy time and why not butter up Evander.

I've never heard any Showtime commentary from the rematch. But Tyson was well behind when he headbutted holyfield in the first fight. Evander has headbutted many a fighter, that huge clash of heads was on Tyson. Plain as day.

It may help to actually hear the actual commentary from the rematch before you mete out your opinion.

Holyfield has a history of being accused of cheating in fights. Some have argued his cheating cost him a certain gold medal in the 1984 olympics. Czyz has just accused him of cheating on another website. Lennox Lewis once said he could understand why Tyson had been driven to bite him.Memory serves me correct Hasim Rahman was also the victim of a headbutt which regardless of the circumstances took the fight away from him.

OK you are now living in fantasyland. There was no blatant headbutt by Evander. The big headbutt you are referring to was actually more instigated by Tyson himself than anyone . .

And Tyson won 3 rounds tops vs Evander.

Back to the topic. If there is ANY reason on earth that Czyz was about to make Evander quit in their fight, it was soley because Holy might have began to feel merciful.

re: the first tyson/holyfield fight. i said holyfield was going to win after two punches were landed in the first seconds of the first round. the first was hard tyson bomb to holyfield's head. instead of folding or running or wetting his pants holyfield came back with a terrific power punch of his own. two punches and tyson knew he was in a fight...and he didn't have anything inside him to deal with it.

If Czyz brought a flame thrower and frag grenades into the ring, he MIGHT make Evander quit.

I still chuckle when golden balls Czyz took on our own Dennis Andries in 1988 in Atlantic City. Czyz was a big favourite with the bookies but Andries kicked his butt from pillar to post.

I seem to remember Bobby had an excuse for this fight as well. He said he was sick with fever and should have never fought.
