We complain about £15 but they have to pay well more than that. $55 for the recent Mayweather-Mosley fight which works out at roughly £40.
How come they get stiffed so much more than we do!?! I could never see myself paying £40 for a fight, unless you got a load of mates round and all chipped in, but that'd only happen for huge fights.

Mate we get stiffed!! Sky (particularly) selling their customers 'box-office' pay-per-view events on top of a monthly package is a f*cking piss-take

Yeah I know we get stiffed too, just wondered how they get away with charging more than double over there. Do they not pay a subscription to HBO or whatever too?

Yes but to a service provider like we do with Sky. Sky just offer both here whereas in the US it's a different company to the channel, like DirectTV.

There are far fewer US PPV's these days though, only really for Manny and Floyd.
I agree though, it is hard to imagine paying £40 for one TV show.

Very much surprises me why people would pay that, too. Even going back to them 90s, with Bruno and Tyson, that was an expensive pay per view over there.
One point, though, is that they don't have to pay a licence at all.
Remember too that like $55 is only £45 at our exachange rate- to them its more like £30-£35 would seem for us.
Still not cheap, but not as expensive as it sounds.
It's kind of hard to explain.
