GRANGE OLD SCHOOL BOXING - "THE NEW BREED" - JUNE 2nd

Grange Old School Boxing is fighting for a cause........

Some are born to fight……Others have no choice!
There is nothing more soul destroying than to see children suffer.

When that child is your own and diagnosed with a tumor, a level beyond devastation is reached at hearing the word

“Inoperable.”

Having been crushed by such news in June of last year, Illawarra’s Mick and Tanya Fawell, parents of 4 yr old Amber Kasey Fawell still struggle with the diagnosis, yet, as good people do, they have turned their family’s existence upside down and inside out to cater for young Amber’s newly acquired needs.

As the sole bread winner for the family, Mick Fawell reduces his hours regularly, wanting to be by his daughter’s side for most appointments and Tanya, full time mother of 3, has become full time carer to Amber.

Ongoing medical appointments, continuous trips to Sydney, escalating medical expenses, the ability to work hampered ,the rigors of chemotherapy, all encompassing anguish and happiness at a premium whilst trying to hold the family together, has made welcome, a helping hand extended from an unexpected arena

On hearing of the families plight, a” New Breed” of Australian boxer will lead by example to assist in showing young Amber, just what it takes to fight for your life.

A resounding and unanimous “Count me in” was the response from world class contenders,
Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale, “Deadly” Rob Medley, “The Bulli Blaster” Shannan Taylor, Billy “The Kid” Dib, Garth “From the Hood” Wood, “King of Kenya” Kariz Kariuki, Nader “Lionheart” Hamdan and Junior “The One” Talipeau when they were told they may be able be of help to an unfortunate toddler.

In putting their bodies on the line professional boxers gain opportunities through dedication, discipline and diligence coupled with the resolve to bounce back from disappointment, many of the attributes Amber and her family must now employ, the main difference is that fighters do it by choice.

Often ignored and rarely acclaimed, 8 men are stepping up to the plate on a noble quest to raise much needed funds, in hope that renowned surgeon, Dr Charlie Teo can advance Ambers medical condition to a less threatening status.

With the support of the community at large it is hoped the event will significantly improve the family’s financial woes with $5.00 from every ticket sold and 50% of proceeds from a car raffled on the night to be donated.

The final card is confirmed as follows:

12 middleweight Daniel Geale 22(13)-1(0)-0 -VS- Kariz Kariuki 21(18)-8(4)-2

12 light middleweight Robert Medley 27(17)-3(1)-0 -VS- Sergio Leonides Aparicio 13(6)-2(1)-1

12 featherweight Billy Dib 26(14)-1(0)-0 -VS- Vacharakrit Senahan 17(9)-2(2)-1

8 super middleweight Junior Talipeau 14(5)-1(0)-1 -VS- Nader Hamdan 42(18)-7(1)-1

8 super middleweight Ben Costello 6(4)-3(0)-1 -VS- Shannan Taylor 49(35)-8(6)-3

6 super middleweight Garth Wood 7(3)-1(1)-0 -VS- William Hadlow 7(2)-18(5)-4

6 welterweight Victor Chernous 7(4)-1(0)-0 -VS- Alex Ahtong 4(3)-6(0)-2

Everyone head down to Wollongong Entertainment centre for a great night supporting a great cause.

Wow, thats now 3 opponents each that have been named to fight Dib and Medley with each opponent getting worse.

This better be $20 otherwise it will be another year before Grange decide to put on another card for PPV, because it's looking more and more like a Thursday Fox card.....wait That Bolling,Oganov and Pittman card had more appeal than this.

Robert Medley.... whats the story with this bloke, it's his 31st fight and is still fighting scrubs..yeah he's fought Mundine and Hlatswayo but both times came away empty. My point is it's either he's overmatched or he's fighting blokes ranked 300th in his division, what is there honestly no middle ground with the way he's being matched. Honestly he's going no where unless this is addressed.

Same deal with Geale, step it up quick mate, your quickly losing your appeal, you need a big fight soon or it's going to be Daniel who far too inactive for the mainstream media to follow.

Dib....what the [email protected] has Suger Shane travelling half way around the world to watch him fight and somehow unbeknown to Jesus christ himself ends up fighting Villacura in the club fighting scene and continues to do this for the next year. Dib when you've hit rock bottom there's only 1 way back.

Theres only 1 fight on the card with appeal, and thats Taliepai vs Hamden, and it's the way Main event are advertising the event....The Contender rematch which also features Geale, Medley and Dib. Here's the thing it's not the main event, it's not even a 10 round fight.Jnr and Hamden will walk out around the 4th fight.

This card could have been good.

Shitt i never read the full post....didn't realize it was a fundraiser for a kid. my deepest appoligies.
The card started out perfectly and like so many cards here, it diminished. As i said i hope it's 20 bucks, because i can't see it worth anymore than that.

Macklin is in talks with Barker, maybe you should tell Geale what i said....maybe it'll put it a little fire under his ass and get him going. It is hard for the Media to follow Geale when he only fights twice a year.

Kariz aint PPV material.

This PPV is banking on the "more is better" concept with 64 rounds scheduled.

But this schedule will cut back once Robert goes in against Sergio Aparicio, who in his 17 bouts has fought 1 x 8 rounds, 4 x 6 rounders and 12 x 4 round bouts. This wild heifer from the Pampas is rated 310 in the world and # 14 in Argie land.

And what about the Dibster's new opposition, one Vacharakit Senahan who in his last 5 fights has been in 4 x 6 round contests.

But the other fights compensate and we'll see just how far Daniel wants to go as staying inactive is not a positive thing as the public has a short memory.

Interesting that main event doesn't have a price on the website:

Has anyone called up yet?

Hey didnt geale say he was fighting Pavlik as well............believe who Geale is fighting when we see it. I am a great fan of Danny's but he should be looking at international top notch opponents who will get him recognised, not what he is doing. Get this over with dan then get one of the topblokes. At least then you willknow where you stand in the scheme of things on a world scale........Aussie boxing needs it.

Geale & Kariuki both failed to make middleweight, so the fight is now for vacant IBF Pan Pac super middy, which Mitrevski jr must've relinquished today.

Geale won tko 11. Medley won in 3 rounds. Dib won in the 1st. Junior won split decision. I thought he was a bit lucky to get there. But good close fight all the same. Woods and Hadlow clashed heads about the first exchange. Tech draw with Woods cut pretty bad. Taylor tko over Costello in the first.
