King's Hall, Belfast...

Anyone been to a show there? Have heard the atmostphere is something else so considering making a trip.
Not knowing anything about the area, is it quite partisan in terms of the whole catholic / protestant thing though or does that depend who's fighting?

you'll be safe mate, its in the park lane area of belfast!
And boxing is the only sport that unites both sides of the community.

Don't worry about The Kings Hall, it is on neutral ground.

How hard does Rogie hit?
Is he as tough as he seems outside the ring?

Awesome venue and atmosphere mate.
Was there last year for the Lindsay / Appleby fight.
My mates Rhodes and Woodhouse were on the undercard.
When the main event got underway thought the roof was coming off !
No problems with the area as well - neutral territory.
Nearby hotels are great as well.

no he doesnt have one punch knockout power but he is very strong and if im honest i never went out there with much ambition and if i did and met him head on maybe it would be a different answer but in the 4th i put my arms up and let him land a few on my more than ample body(to which the commentator jim watt i think said i aint seen anything like that since muhummad ali but thats where the comparison ends
and to the mactavish no he never drove me back to the airport but i got myself £2500 for the fight of which i came out with about £1600 which was my second biggest purse i had plus i managed to unleash the beast on some lucky belfast babe back at the hotel(well beast rather than babe more like

)

Whiteboy,
You are on the money mate !
Apologies for me getting this wrong.
We were at the Ulster Hall, not the Kings.
Good news for Curtis - he can now say he ain't lost there !
Having said that it shouldn't detract from the Belfast people being great whilst we were there, and as far as boxing is concerned the fans create a brilliant atmosphere.

The Ulster Hall? Behind Belfast City Centre... I used to go to Rock concerts there all the time when I was a kid.

I was there for Duddy-Eastman, as someone said above its a great atmosphere and even with Duddy fighting and a load of his fans waving the tricolour about there was no bother.
After the boxing get yourself into Benedicts its an experience ;;-)

Sounds like it was a good trip in all in all then Billy, a decent cheque and then you gave some bird the best 2 mins of her life.
I've long since fancied a trip there myself and wanted to see Brian Magee vs Calzaghe there many moons ago but couldn't get anyone brave enough to come with me. Then it fell through anyway so perhaps a blessing.
The Ulster hall looked pretty raucous too when Hayemaker put the Appleby v Lindsay fight on there about a year ago.

I was there for the Takaloo-Magee stinker. The fans in the Hall were great and determined to enjoy themselves but Belfast itself seemed a bit grim and a stroll around on the Saturday afternoon of the show left me with the impression that there is a bit of a village mentality, with lots of stares at a stranger. Maybe it was just me. I decided to give the bars a miss.
