Just picked up the Newcastle Herald and read Daniel Ammann has signed on to fight Shane Cameron on the Briggs / Green undercard! This guy is what boxing is all about...not afraid to take on all comers despite their record or even weight. Good luck Daniel.

Yeah his record speaks for it self, he fights anyone and he has literally in Australia.
That Loss to Alexander Alexeev was bad, i think he'll be alright with Cameron tho, Cameron is no Alexeev.
Barry Michael is training Cameron who is apparently coming down to Cruiser, should be interesting.

Good stuff from Amman and Peter Hallet. They don't dodge or pick and choose bums to fight.... good fight and hopefully we see a bloody good stoush.

So far there are no prelims on the schedule for the July 21 card. With just over six weeks to go they are cutting it fine.

Barry Michael revealed on the last fox card that he's training him and he's dropping to Cruiser.

Shane's most recent fighting weights have been at 230 pounds, where as Daniel has come in around 200 pounds in his recent bouts. Shane will have to be pruned a bit to make this a more equal contest weight wise. Although both lads have had similar number of fights, Shane has by far the better KO percentage.
But losing two and a half stone is a big ask and will weaken Shane, if we are to believe the local press notice above that a bout is in the make.

Give me a break! Cameron is massive. I could not see a 6'2" boxer with his build making 14 stone 4 pounds.

Ammann is actually planning on coming in 4kg heavier.

Great opportunity for Ammann.
I suspect Cameron will do better at Cruiserweight than heavyweight, though.

According to Cameron's website the fight is on and the "Mountain Warrior" is shrinking himself to a cruiser.
Strange days indeed.

That was my initial thought as well however they will find a way it seems. This should be a very good scrap..... Cameron favoured to win by KO but Amman won't lie down that easily. Great stuff!

Dominic vea offered Amman a shot at commonwealth title. Why we would he refuse and choose to fight cameron. This is a oppurtunity he has blown
Vea would of beaten amman AGAIN...and if cameron is serious about fighting in the cruiserweight division, IMO vea would be to quick and too powerful

Better pay check and if he beats Cameron he will get far better prospects.... it makes sense and perhaps the Amman camp don't really care about titles etc.

Well goodluck to Ammann, I personally will be backing Amman but as far as better prospects go, i dont think he will want to dodge Vea if he does beat cameron.
And to say Amman camp dont really care about titles would be an insult to him and the camp. I'm pretty sure every fighter is fighting for one thing...."the prize".

No not at all an insult, Amman camp are always eager to fight the hard fights titles or not. I am sure at some point he will fight for the "prize" albeit if that's a bonus but as it stands they have plenty of respect for Cameron and see him as a legit and genuine test. Win or lose Amman will give it everything and to match it he will get a decent pay check.

Most likely. Two stone would be a big drop for Cameron.

set the limit around 210 i reckon. That should be nearly achieveable for Cameron.

Is this the same Vea that couldnt beat McCrakin, yes he had a broken nose but finished the fight with a broken heart.
Amman is what boxing in this country should be about and good luck to him.

hey King_kali_rockwiper....well look who has the last laugh now, Vea Having a shot at the commonwealth that is. Well sure vea enterd with a broken nose...but he definatley exited with a bigger heart than he already has...
and to answer your question..yes it is the Vea that KO'd mccracken last year

....btw IMO...mccracken is a much better fighter than Amman....
watching Amman is like watching paint dry
now go and play wit ur rocks!!!

Mc Cracken doesn't beat a fit Vea, McCracken is decent and i would welcome a third installmeent between him and Vea, but IMO the broken nose and Cut eye that Vea suffered from Green days before this fight was too much.

Cameron was an awesome amateur fighting in the 91kg heavyweight division. After winning bronze at the 2002 Commonwealth games he turned pro and packed on the beef to be a Heavyweight fighter. At most in the amateurs he was 88-89kg at the time of his bronze medal. MAny in NZ including myself believe Cruiserweight is Camerons true division. Last I heard he is walking around at 93.5kg and looking lean and powerfull.
