Doubt it. It will probably be in Rama. Great oppurtunity for Booth but to beat Molitor you need to be powerful and aggresive. In my opinion it's a bad style matchup for Booth. Molitor is not as good as he was in his first reign though, so there is always a chance for Booth to win, although I wouldn't count on it.

Nottingham veteran Jason Booth gets a deserved crack at a major world belt when he challenges slick Candian southpaw Steve Molitor for the IBF super-bantamweight title in Britain on July 23.
Booth, the reigning British and Commonwwealth super-bantamweight champion, is on a hot eight-fight winning streak and boxing better than ever at the age of 32, an age usually regarded as quite ancient for a small man. He picked up a Lonsdale Belt for life by stopping West Ham's Matthew Marsh in 11 rounds in his home city of Nottingham earlier this year and was in line for a crack at the European title. Instead the smooth, sharp-hitting, body punching Booth, who turned pro back in 1996, guns for the big one against a man who has already excelled on these shores with a one-sided five-round stoppage of Hartlepool's Michael Hunter in Hartlepool in 2006 to lift the IBF belt for the first time.
The talented Molitor made Hunter look pedestrian and he went on to make five big defences before Panamanian colossus Celestino Caballero clattered him in four rounds in Canada in November 2008, although Caballero could do that to anyone and it remains Molitor's only defeat in 33 outings. He came back to win the IBF title a second time with a fine 12-round decision over South African dangerman Takalani Ndlovu last time out in March.
Molitor's form is every bit as good as Booth's, and at a higher level, but Booth has never been stopped and on home soil and on such a good run, does have a shout.

Well you stop paying attention and things like this happen? Didn't know Molitor was champion again, I take it Caballero was stripped for no good reason? Good luck to Booth but I think he loses this on points, he has been on a great run of domestic form but I think he falls short at this level, especially at the higher weight.

booth has a very good chin, pretty sure he's only been down about twice in his whole career, i doubt molitor will stop him

I'll be having a chunk of cash on that he does, Molitor is world class, Booth isn't imo.

I can see a mid fight stoppage for Moilitar. He is a step above Booth.
Still, all credit to Booth getting a title shot at this stage of his career and after the problems he has had. Would love him to win, but no way is he stopping Molitar and he wont be able to outbox him for 12 rounds.

Best of luck to Booth but as I said on another thread, Molitor will outbox Booth over 12 maybe even forcing a late stoppage. Molitor is one of the best in the division where as Booth is at best, European level. Caballero was always going to be a disaster for Molitor considering their two respective styles.

Good knowledge. I completely overlooked this. The revenge angle makes for an intriguing fight but I cannot help thinking what Rendall Munroe thinks about it all.

Yes wondered why this wasn't mentioned, brother Booth looked 'jaded' but had no answer to Molitors good defence and precision. Don't remember Molitor being dropped, but then we're going back what? 6 years? 5?

Rendall has his shot at the WBC belt as is the mandatory challenger and does not have to give up any options on his future if and when he wins, that the best position for a boxer to be in. Negotiations for Rendalls fight are well under way .

I think this is a step to far for Booth. He's done well in his return, but being harshfully truthful most of his opponents since he won the British title haven't been of the highest standard domestically. His hardest defence was against Matthew Marsh - and Marsh ran him so so close. Hunter clearly didn't have the ticker anymore - and really, Rocky Dean, Mark Moran, Sean Hughes etc - good opponents, but a step behind winning the Lonesdale Belt.
If Marsh can run him close, well Molitor is 3 levels above him.
I remember the Molitor vs Nicky Booth fight - I actually thought it was Jason when I heard this fight was made. Jason is better than Nicky, but Molitor was a class above.
Could be intriguing for a few rounds, but Molitor on points is my pick.

speed will win this fight. Booth looked ever so impressive from ringside against Hunter. He won't have the answer to Molitor's speed though, and not to be overlooked power that brings.
