RIP Obbie English

Obie was a heavyweight professional boxer. He won 16 fights, with six knockouts, lost seven fights with three ending in knockouts and forced a draw in one fight. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing champion from Trenton. He had fought Muhammad Ali (5-rd Exhibition) in Baltimore in August of 1972 and Larry Holmes in Scranton, Pa. in August of 1975. He had trained at Joe Frazier’s Gym in Philadelphia. He was a member of the U.S. Army, and taught boxing at Ft. Bragg, N.C. for a few years where he met his wife.

Obie English is a name familiar to all true boxing fans. R.I.P., Obie.
