I was watching soccer aid last night and the commentators mentioned Calzaghe v Hopkins II was being rumoured in sporting circles.

Anyone add any weight to this?

Also on another note - Woody Harrelson - what a lagend!!!!

i can do better and source richard schaffer talkign about in in an interview in teh current boxing monthly i think i can chaeck where hes talked with joe about it but he feels joe wants to come back some days but wants nothing to do with boxing other days

there was a BS headline that calzaghe had turned it down. saw it last week.

video of calzaghe on skysports website saying he is 100% not coming back.

This was rumoured a while back. Calzaghe said he went to the gym and didn't feel the spark was there. No fight.

I heard the same rumour too and read the same article. Calazghe has got nothing to prove and an awful lot to lose should he choose to come back and fight Bernard Hopkins as well, plus if he did come back it would put back his application to the Hall of Fame to 2016. Plus I think Hopkins should retire as I feel he too has had an amazing career but if he carries and goes with someone like Chad Dawson he will get an utter shallacking and will be remembered for that and not the 20 World Title Defences he made at Middleweight. Plus I think Hopkins will make an amazing trainer.

I think we can safely say Calzaghe is staying retired, and thus this isn't happening. Good thing, really, because I can't imagine too many people would want to sit through this again, no matter how much trash-talking Hopkins could do if it was announced. He'd have to really try and sell this one.

i doubt anyone would believe him and i doubt he'd have the full backing of GBP and thus HBO.

hopkins should fight bronco mckart or some other puffed up, old light middleweight, for one of his catchweight clutchfests. it's all worn a bit thin. did for me by the 2nd taylor fight.

His retirement had shades of Marvin Hagler about it , in that he retired having done it all, went out on top.

18 months on there are suddenly some big fights. Bute, Dirrel, Abraham,Ward, Froch.

A bigger offer might be hard to refuse to box Ward if he wins the Super Six

Doubt that Calzaghe would risk his '0' at this late stage against a slippery and technically very good, not to mention much younger Andre Ward.

If Calzaghe were to fight, which I don't think he will now, it would only be against an old codger like himself that he feels he has the beating of.

Thats what he would prefer,but if they make a big star out of Ward,maybe the money will be to big to turn down.

How are they going to turn Ward into a star the magnitude of Hopkins or Jones overnight - just not possible.

Knowledge wise perhaps but with his record of falling out with people and his reputation for being difficult I'm not convinced he would be.

hopkins has said he doesn't have the temperament to pass on his knowledge to others.

you're only as good as your last fight so right now ward is great but i doubt he'll stay that way. he looked pretty average - pretty sheepish, in fact - against miranda.

Agreed. Can't imagine any fireworks between him and Dirrell (especially as they are friends too!). You know what, if Frochy can sort out his workrate and tighten up his defence, he might still have a chance in this.

i still think guys like bhop and dawson are way ahead of a andre ward
