Pinklon Thomas vs Jimmy Young

15 rounds: Prime 4 Prime.
Who wins?
I go for Pinky assuming he turned up. The Pinky that fought Berbick loses, im thinking the 1 who beat weaver and spoon.

Good fight, I think jimmy would take that jab away and 15 rounds has to favor Young. Jimmy was death on a boxer. 11-4ish in a tactical fight.

I like Thomas & I absolutely feel he is under-rated, but Young was the better man & would get the decision, something like 9-6, if the best Thomas turned up.

Jimmy Young was very talented and so was Pinklon this is a good matchup.

I favour Pinklon to win a decision.

It is a good fight. I favour Pinky.

It will be lack luster at points with some slow moments
but I tend to favour Thomas, marginally.

Good match though.

WTF? Thomas is whitewashing the votes here. Young as always is getting badly under-rated. Thomas had a good jab and was a good athlete but he has NOTHING Foreman, Lyle and Norton didn't have (and all three were better than Thomas). Thomas was way too much of a backwards and forewards fighter to ever have much success vs Young. His best wins vs Weaver and Tim were vs fighters who gave no angles, no slickness, they were right there all night to be hit by the jab. Young would not. Young in an 8-4 or 9-3 type decision.

Thomas never had a good jab. He hada fkn gr8 jab! Must say im suprised by the votes as I see it as a 50/50 and I lean 2wards Pinky.

There was a time when I thought Thomas, with the great jab and big left hook, had the potential to develop into another Sonny Liston. He never made it that far but he was pretty darn good at the time he was beating the likes of Tim Witherspoon and Mike Weaver. Larry Holmes reportedly wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

That said, however, I favor the Young of the Ali, Lyle, Foreman, and Norton fights to outbox him. For that brief period when Young was fit and motivated, he was a HELL of a fighter.

YOUNG way too savvy for Thomas, IMO

i like the comment that Pink was all 'backwards and forwards' and no angles, and that, in a nutshell, is why I think Young takes his jab away and flummuxes him, 10-5 sounds about right to me :TU:
