The worst sixteen, rather than the best. A World Cup-style format. Only the final will be a 15-rounder.

Pool A

Tommy Burns
Hasim Rahman
Leon Spinks
Jess Willard

Pool B

Jimmy Braddock
Primo Carnera
Buster Douglas
Jimmy Ellis

Pool C

Shannon Briggs
Ingemar Johansson
Wlad Klitschko
Jack Sharkey

Pool D

Marvin Hart
Michael Moorer
Floyd Patterson
Michael Spinks

To clarify, I do not recognise the claims from either Vitali Klitschko or Kenny Norton, as some would. They were not considered for the Tournament.

Lineage or consensus numero uno only. The men you listed are, & always will be, non-champions & mere contenders in my book.

Nice "twist." I always enjoy these kinds of things. Not being a soccer fan, though, I may f%$# up the format.

Winner: Michael Spinks
Advances: Floyd Patterson

Round 1:

Sharkey W15 over Willard

I think if you had this tournament 5 times, there would be different winners. Patterson, Sharkey, and Michael Spinks would have a good chance. Ellis and Moorer would have shots as well.

I see those as the most likely outcomes, but I'd be surprised if Wlad wasn't caught and finished at some stage during the tournament. Possibly by Moorer, in which case Patterson would win.
