Relatives who fought each other.

I remember reading about 4 years ago in Boxing News about a fight in I think Thailand were there was a fight between two brothers, I think the elder brother won in about 6 rounds. I can't recall any other information.
But this got me thinking, has there been any other fights were relatives have boxed each other?
I know there has been many exhibitions between relatives such as Rocky Marciano and his brother but I was wondering have relatives ever fought in a full on fight?
Any info fight fans?

Haven't really heard of any proffesional contest. Of course its happened in toughman shows.
Plenty of best mates have faught each other though - Maurice Blocker vs Simon Brown springs to mind.

EARLY ARTICLES ABOUT FORMER CHAMP LAURO SALAS STATED THAT HE HAD STARTED BOXING WHEN HE SUBSTITUTED FOR A FIGHTER THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO FIGHT HIS OLDER BROTHER, THEN LAURO PROCEEDED TO ANGER HIS FATHER BY STOPPING HIS BRO IN THE FIRST ROUND. WHETHER THE STORY IS TRUE OR NOT, I DON'T KNOW. IT COULD BE A PR PIECE TO GET SOME NEWSPAPER INK.

Not fights, but the Finnegan brothers, Chris and Kevin, used to beat the hell out of each other in sparring. I believe Jerry and Mike Quarry used to do the same thing.
Brothers

Marty and Eric Jakubowski fought each other as pros.
Yes--brothers used to fight!

My late uncle, Paul Negri, a San Francisco boxer (1907-1993), used to fight his brother, Frank Negri, who fought under the name of Frankie Thomas, and their other brothers, Rocco Negri and Dummy Thomas. This was in the late 1920's-early 1930's.
It does seem strange.

It's very rare for brothers to fight each other in a legit fight. Marciano's brother fought under an alias, so that one was kind of shady.
I don't know if other brother pairs ever squared off. Did Leon Spinks ever spar with Michael? If so, I imagine Mike kicked his ass. I don't think Muhammad Ali ever got in the ring with Rahman. Ray Leonard had brother Roger and cousin Odell to take on. Don't know if they ever did in the gym. I know Marvin Hagler squared off with half-brother Robbie Simms in training. How about Kaokor and Kaosai Galaxy? Or Gaby and Orlando Canizales?

I don't know if the Spinks brothers ever sparred with each other.
But as for who would have come out on top, I think that all depends on when the sparring occured. As amateurs I would heavily favour the older Leon as he was bigger, stronger and had a much higher workrate. At that time the heat and pressure would have been to much for the younger, smaller Michael.
During the Olympic trails and Box-Offs etc many experts saw Leon as the better prospect.
From about 1980 onwards I would favoure Michael, by then Leon was still dangerous but starting to fade mostly due to lack of dedication and wayward lifstyle. Buy then Michael had physically grown and matured and perfected his awkward 'herky jerky' style.
For various reasons but mostly mental, Michael improved as a profesional a great deal whereas Leon basically stayed the same fighter.

I agree, mate. The Leon who dealt to Sixto Soria in the Olympics would have more than held his own with Michael.
Having said that, Michael came into his own as a pro and is up there with the best ever at 175.................. and there's been a lot of great champs in that division.

It'll never happen but imagine Wladmir vs Vitali Klitschko for the world heavyweight title.
What a draw that'd be. It'll never happen though.

I just read that Lamon Brewster and Chris Byrd (IBF heavyweight champ) are cousins. A possible match is not unlikely given the topsy turvy status of the heavyweight scene!
