I'd love to see Macklin smash Barker like an overripe pumpkin - but not at the expense of a pathway to a world title!

Does anyone think there is the remotest of chance that this fight will happen ?
I don't think either man wants it.

Len, why does every post you make have some link to Ireland?!
Or Darren Barker-bashing....
Barker by UD if this ever happens

A. Thats incorrect.
B. Do you ask the same questions of posters whose thread always revolve around British fighters?
However, whilst I am Irish and I am primarily aware of the Irish boxing scene and I primarily interested in Irish fighters I would still say it is safe to say that I support more British boxers than you do Irish.
Go figure!

Well this is the way I heard it.
When Macklin was Euro Champ he avoided Barker like the plague.
Now the roles are reversed and its Barker doing the avoiding.
Forgetting everything else about the Promotional side - with Wazza winning the bid - I just can't see the fight ever happening.

Where did i say that fights are not rigged in British rings?
Try and argue with me on things i have said, not what you have imagined, cretin.

Thanks for the personal abuse - pretty much getting used to it on here. So i am a "cretin" for considering your opinion to be total bullshÃt am I! If it was the other way round I am sure that I would be banned. Hey-ho!
A. Did I say you said British fights weren't rigged?
B. Please so how does a single incident in Gomez "allegedly" throwing a fight equate Irish boxing "really, really needing a look at"? Are you saying that Barker or Macklin would throw the fight? If not how can you say "If this fight happens the result will be fixed."

when you look at the typical matchmaking - lee v sipos, dunne v halstad, etc etc - the fights don't need fixing.
yes, you can turn it round and point to some of the typical matchups by the top british promoters as well.

Slap you are coming across as egotistical and xenophobic, it's not all about you pal......or the Oirish
Give us a breakdown of why you feel Barker won't beat Macklin, the areas he is superior etc...
Rather than just slagging him off.

To be honest you are coming across as a troll and a hypocrite to be honest - accusing me of only discussing Irish fighters when all you discuss if British fighters! Like I said I support more British fighters then you could even name Irish fighters.
I haven't been slagging off Barker here, but answer your question as to why do I think Macklin beats Barker - quite simple really, Barker struggles with pressure fighters and doesn't seem to work well when his rhythm is disrupted and can not dictate his own pace. Barker has a ropey chin has and been dropped more times then a cheating girlfriend. I cant see Barker being able to hold Macklin off with the jab and if Macklin's hands hold up through the fight I see him dropping Barker heavily after say six rounds, Barker will get up and then be put down again with another two rounds and then be stopped on his feet, exhausted, in the 10th - that's what my crystal ball tells me.
I actually think it would be 75/25 in favour of Macklin with the other most likely outcome being a Barker points victory.

Its not true what you are saying. There are loads of Sergio Martinez fans on this forum and when do you hear a bad word about him despite being an 'Argie', who else? Lot of love for Namibian Ali Nuumembe (pardon the spelling) Pole Albert Sosnowski, and quite a few more I could mention, there is no nationalist bias amongst the patrons of this forum and certainly not when a British fighter has been beaten fair and square by someone not from these shores.
You on the other hand have a chip on both shoulders, a nasty agenda stating that there is 'typical British arrogance' on this board that you oh-so counter wonderfully every time you post.

True it is a British and Irish forum but it isn't an equal partnership seeing as there is more boxing in the United Kingdom than there is in the Republic of Ireland so the majority of posts on here and articles in boxing news are going to have a British slant.
As for Barker beating Duddy, Lee or Macklin - who knows? But there is certainly nothing laughable about Barker scalping all three. Thats for the future.
Its funny that Anthony Small has been told to 'go back to..' for stating his view but nobody has said to you - if you don't like Britain (as you have made plain on here numerous times) - Dublin is cheap enough to return to on Ryanair - don't know why you live in a city in a country that you obviously have no love for.
