FROM THE OFFICE OF FRANK MALONEY

Due to injury sustained by IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor the scheduled world title defence against Jason Booth has been postponed and re-scheduled for September 10th.

The show on July 23rd at Rainton Meadow Sunderland will still go ahead with the same undercard which includes a super bantamweight commonwealth title plus an English title.

The new top of the bill will be the first defence of North East's British bantamweight champion Stuey Hall against former champion Martin Power. Hall is in a confident mood ahead of his first defence:

“It's great to be given the opportunity once again to fight in front of my home fans and I promise them fireworks before they go off on their summer holidays."

Marin Power was beaten in the first meeting but is chomping at the bit for the rematch:

“I'm sorry to hear the news that Jason Booth's fight has fallen through but it is a great opportunity for myself to win a Lonsdale belt outright and it will be a different Martin Powers than the one who lost to Stuey Hall in an overweight contest last September. And I have no problem travelling to his backyard."

Tickets will be on sale from Monday at revised prices of £30 and £70 ringsides.

New British bantamweight champion Stuart Hall makes a quick first defence against former champion Martin Power in Sunderland on July 23.
Darlington man Hall claimed the title with a stoppage of Ian Napa earlier this month in Peterlee in a real upset. The established Napa, a former European champion, had struggled with Hall's jab and bailed out at the end of the eighth round, which was ironically his best round of the fight. History tells us it was a final fling from Napa; Boston's Paul Pender had famously retired on his stool after a big ninth round against Terry Downes at Wembley in 1961, surrendering his world middleweight title.
Unbeaten Hall, the first ever British champion from Darlington, is still to reach double figures in fights but enjoyed a long amateur career and his lack of paid assignments is deceptive. Big for bantamweight, Hall throws plenty of shots and holds an eight-round stoppage of Power last year in Brentwood, which gives him an obvious edge.
However, Power bounced back with a sharp five-round stoppage of good Welshman Matthew Edmonds and will secure a magnificent Lonsdale Belt for life if he wins this one. The fiery Londoner, of Irish descent, has everything to gain and will have noticed how Napa seemed to be getting to Hall with body shots.
Nevertheless, one has to side with the fresher Hall.

3 weeks notice though, he cant pull top fights out of his ass, the 1st fight was a good little scrap to be fair, interesting to see how it plays out when they both weigh in at bantam, as long as gary gets the winner im happy :TU:

Shouldn't be on FNF. Another shocker of a main event on FNF. But we expect that from Maloney now. I've emailed a complaint to Sky. I urge everyone to follow suit.

Watch the last fight fight between Powers & Hall which was a cracker of a fight.... Punch for punch for 8 rounds. That fight was at catch weight as Martin said.

Good luck Martin,You will win the Lonsdale Belt out right. :box:

why just because there not big names? prob one of the best 50/50 fights weve had as a main event so lets not complain otherwise wed end up with no boxing on tv, at least maloney saved the show!

Cant wait for Hall-Power II. If its as good as the 1st one (with a different outcome) were hopefully in for a treat. Annoyed for Booth but still think he can pull it off
