Mickey Vann and Ricky Hatton

Dont you think it was a bit dodgy that Mickey Vann reffed Ricky Hatton fights at the MEN Manchester arena like
from the Tony Pep fight - to the - Stephen Smith fight
Thats 8 fights in a row.
Shouldnt the British Board of Control maybe queired this and enforced a change of referee occasionally ?

im really interested in mickey vann, loved his little 'stars on ice' type dance around the ring as the boxers would slug it out..
in his life. . . . , and he has been involved in boxing a long time...... how many rings do you think he has been in? .....

Its not a conspiracy Mickey Vann was one of very few high profile british refs that were about at that time. plus he's well respected.

still no reason to ref so many of hattons fights, they were mainly wbu fights...... the 'w' stands for world, the refs could have been from anywhere !! ... not just the sunbeds of leeds !!

i'll agree you shouldnt have that many fights with one ref because its human nature to become bias at some point but - he is the highest profile ref in the UK, its no different Joe Cortez refing the amount of fights at the MGM he does.
Only Vann isnt a C u next tuesday like Cortez.

He was born in London, but lived for a long time in Leeds he ran a cafe called the Ringside Cafe on Whitehall Road in Leeds for many a year. Then apparently he moved to spain. Hence the David Dickinson look!

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Can you point to anything suspicious about the refereeing in any of the Hatton fights ?
Can't think of anything outrageous - but with my biased head on should have got stopped against Thaxton.
Look we have some shite refereeing going on right now - I personally wish he was still reffing.
However the port and cheese brigade at the Board have their stupid rules.
Mickey is a Yorkie - get off his back.

It wasn't the BBBC, it was the hopeless WBU. Vann and Parris reffed all their fights and the judges were always one of those two plus Reg Thompson and Karl Rogers. Thank god e don't have to put up with their "world" titles any more.

Bullshit.
So based upon an alleged headbutt that the referee didn't take further, in a total of about 13 fights, there's a conspiracy theory ?
Old lad Smith made himself and his son look absolute tits that night.
I really felt for young Stephen.
With some of the absolutely outrageous decisions and refereeing performances we've seen of late, I think any venom spitting should be elsewhere.
And it ain't hard to work out which referee it should be aimed at.
Bring back Micky Vann I say - he and Howard Foster the best UK referees in the last 10 years.

He didn't get cut from a headbutt, he got cut from an elbow after Hatton missed a hook. Smith even pointed at his elbow as he complained to Vann. If you are going to make up conspiracy theories, at least get your facts rights.
