We have a great suggestion......The trilogy of Nelson and Arguello must be completed in the next two weeks. However the ONLY way this can happen is if both fighters are willing to be "bigger than the belts".

For the winner of week one MUST abdicate his titles to face the other in week two.

That statement of yours is not quite right now is it?

Crease young lad, Sometimes a man is too big for a belt. The reality of His vision and skill expand far beyond the ability of any trophy, title or belt to quantify or define that mystic nature that makes one a true champion. Such Champions transcend such limiting descriptors. In this case Azumah is more of a Mountain than a Man. In fact let's just refer to him in the future as "MountAzumah" in order to more fully appreciate and draw greater attention to his ability and deeds.

In this case MountAzumah has decided that Arguell should be given a trilogy in order to give him opportunity. Or to make the greater point that with three trys he still could not perservere. This Champion has now decided to fight Pac Man rather than make history. So be it. But this leaves no genuine challenge for the Man Moutain. We will of course ponder our options at length.

Actually my statement is perfectly accurate... Allow me to bring up the history of the IBF Championship.

Week 7: Marquez became The First IBF champion (Beat JMM)
Week 8: defend against Jeff Fenech (P4P1)
Week 9: defend against Kid Chocolate (Armageto)
Week 10: Young Griffo (Jbacca)
Then Marquez dropped the title to fight Nelson

You say that Nelson is greater than the WBO title... Then why did you not take a unification fight... History would have remembered you as the man who brough the WBO and IBF titles together...

A feat that parallels only what Sanchez did when he unified the WBC and WBO.

Buzz, I am positive that you can appreciate that the first man this season to hold the four titles (WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF) will be remembered as the First Undisputed Champion - and that is a great accomplishment.
Because after this, when others fighters win this unified title, they can never take away this remarkable feat from you - you would be the only man you did that!!!

I have a load of respect for Sav and Neri for trying to bring three of the titles together...

They both put it all on the line - their world titles and their high ranking.

This is the mark of a true champion...

Buzz, you argue that True Champions are limited by the value of their title.

However, the truth is in fact the opposite of this. The titles are not a "limiting" or restricting the greatness of a boxer... In fact, they measure how great a boxer really is.

Of course, how a Title Champion conducts himself is a related matter.
As Sav said a while back, the only road to the Hall Of Fame is the rocky road, where the Champion takes the Hard Fights.

And so far, there have been examples of "Champion" Material.

Salvador Sanchez:
Week 7: Beat the great Willie Pep for the WBC title.
Week 8: Had an immediate unifcation with Juan Manuel Lopez and won it.
Week 10: Beat Manny Pacquaio

Kid Chocolate:
Week 12: Won the title of Sanchez after an epic fight.
Week 13: Took on a difficult challenge and ultimately lost to Arguello.
But despiute his short title reign, he showed a determination and courage to fight the tough guys.
(Okay recently, he's been going through a bad patch, but he's stiull a great)

Alexis Arguello:
Week 13: Beat Chocolate for the WBC and WBA titles.
Week 14: Beat Manny Pacquaio
Week 15: Drew with Saddler.
Week 16: Beat Marquez.

Sandy Saddler:
Week 12: Saddler took on Henry Armstrong for the IBF title: A hard fight.
Week 15: Unification fight with Arguello that was a draw.

We walked away from a sure thing triple crown win for us from a man we recently disemboweled, to face the single most dangerous opponent in the sim. A full fledged Lightweight. So let's Get real, get your facts straight and at least pretend to be cognizant.

I'm certain that Armstrong and Azumah will be the trilogy of the season. Titles or no titles.
